StraightDrive26 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I am sorry Sanjay is one of the worst commentators to ever call a game and I have been saying this for years now. The guy when he speaks makes us wonder if he ever played the game at the highest level. I remember his playing days, he had lots of hype due to his lineage and that one Pakistan tour but he faltered to deceive in his career as a batter. As a commentator as well he has over the years been terrible but for some reason keeps getting chances. Bumrah has been managed as the team management deem fit. Sanjay or anyone from outside have no business commenting on his availability or impact for the National side. Bumrah will continue playing all important series/tournaments till the day he retires. India does have some important series coming up in Tests and he needs to remain fit. We don't need him to be playing Bi laterals against B or C teams of international sides. Manjerekar is stuck in the 90's when bi-laterals meant something. The fact of the matter is that only teams like Pakistan or Bangladesh play their full strength XI's in bi-laterals. He needs to shut up and concentrate on his work which is commentating when there is a game and not speak out of it as it is mostly nonsense. Gollum 1

singhvivek141 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Manjerakar was an underachiever, he even lost his passion when he took retirement at the age of 32, he simply couldn't adjust to changing cricket dynamics. Unlike his dad Vijay Manjerakar, Sanjay never could become what was expected of him, despite of all the support by Mumbai Cricket Association and BCCI. When he sees other players playing for India at an age when he was sitting on his couch because he lost his will to play, its gonna hurt. Its sad that he has turned out into in this insecure, salty fellow...who instead of appreciating the players who have achieved more than him is just jealous of them. Also, I dont understand his obsession with Pakistan and Imran Khan...what did they do to him that he's become their bhakt. nevada, Gollum and cricspirit 3

He himself couldn't amount to much and taking shots at likes of Jadeja and Bumrah. It's time BCCI put him to pasture and block him the same way they blacklisted Bhogle some time back. cricspirit, Lord, Gollum and 2 others 3 2
bsriharsha Posted June 11 Posted June 11 A terrible take by Sanjay. Bumrah shouldn't even dignify that with a response Gollum and Ultimate_Game 2
Tillu Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) What happened to him? Did the BCCI banish him from doing Indian commentary? Don't see him in IPL as well. Edit: I thought this was an old thread and didn't read the previous replies. Fuuuck Manjrekar. Edited June 11 by Tillu Gollum 1
rollingstoned Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Manjrekar used to criticize Sachin and make digs at the Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman bunch because he felt his career ended earlier than it should've due to them. Tillu, cricspirit and Gollum 2 2

Yet they always find a way to call out our biggest match-winner in Bumrah. Bumrah and Pandya are the two players who need to be protected at all costs. They're the most irreplaceable players we have. Bumrah won us 2 WT20s and series in Aus. Why grind him into dust for a meaningless bilateral? Save both of them and play them selectively to lengthen their career so they can play as many ICC tourneys as possible coz we're not winning shyte without them. There is absolutely no reason to tag that idiot Pandya along with a legend like Bumrah, lol. That guy doesn’t even play test cricket, has done absolutely nothing in 50 over world cups and champions trophy. Even in t20 worldcups his achievement is bowling a full toss to Miller which got caught because of Skys efforts. Your propaganda wont work here. There is absolutely no need to save Pandya lol, he is already rested from tests and hardly plays any games against weaker teams. Lord 1

The balance he brings to the team is unmatched and nobody has been able to do so. There's a reason why India is unbeaten across 5-6 matches against Aus in ICC tourneys when Pandya plays. He can bat, bowl and field and do all these things competently. He may not do everything right in every match, which is a given but he has showed up enough times with both bat and the ball. Plus he shows up in tough situations. Pandya is one of our two top players alongside Pandya in LOIs and if he isn't around we can't field a balanced team. He would be even more crucial in the ODI WC in SA and we can't field a balanced team without Pandya. We're hoping Nitish Reddy or someone else can do what Pandya can but so far we haven't found a replacement. There's replacement for every other player, and sometimes there're 3-4 players who're available to replace a player but Pandya and Bumrah are the only two players who're irreplaceable. rollingstoned 1
gakgupta Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Sanjay is nut case... bumrah is valuable asset and use him only for icc tournaments and test matches. period he is prone to injuries and cant risk him

nevada Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Bumrah is 32 years old and just one big injury away from permanently being out of the game. Why is Manjrekar on his case all the time? At 32, he himself had retired from the game to shift to the comfort of the commentators box. Does he want Bumrah also to retire early by playing EVERY single game that India plays? singhvivek141, Gollum and Tillu 3

Yeah he is a sureshot name in the playing eleven because he balances the team but as a player he has not done anything in Worldcup and champions trophy. You cannot call him a champion cricketer just because he brings balance, he needs to perform for that, his position in the team is definitely not in question here. Wc 27 is his last chance, he needs to do something like what Klusener did in 99 , Kapil in 83 or even what Yuvi did in 11. As for games against Aus, what does those victory have to do with him? Wc 23 group game was won by Rahul and Kohli. Ct 25 was won by Kohli. Wc 19 was won by Dhawan. Bigg Brother 1

And he never admitted he was wrong https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/cricket/story/manjrekar-stands-by-elephant-in-the-room-jibe-directed-at-sachin-56717-2009-09-16 https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/elephants-and-idol-talk-616080 Fun fact, Chappel regretted falling out with sachin but Mankerekar never did even till today. For a decade and a half, Sachin performed like a GOAT. Small dip for 2-3 seasons (tennis elbow played a big part) and all vultures came out. Even Federer had a dip in 2013-16 (occasional brilliance in 2015), again injuries played a part. Both Sachin and Federer had similar playing styles and careers, both also became best in the world after being written off, in their late 30s.
