we used to hear players practicing on cement floors, wet tennis balls etc to get used to bounce.. have they stopped doing all those prep work?

I think India just had to be smart against one bowler.  Just respect his good deliveries. Make him bowl what you want. Tongue's short ball was not that effective. They tried to over hit him and got out to him. India kept on trying to take on Archer and perishing. Phil salt on the other hand after being bunny of Arshdeep decided to even play a maiden against him in order to avoid another dismissal. These are cricketing smarts.  You have to calculate who has how many overs left. Which over to target, which phase you target.  India needs two geras. One for Indian wickets. one for bouncy wicket.

Looking at our fielding performance, the main question has to be are the players even doing basic drills like catching practice? In the IPL, players always blame the lights, but these matches were played during the day, so that excuse doesn't work. It seems like no one is practicing and there are absolutely no bowling plans in place. This was a total failure on all ends.

I don't see that much bounce on English pitches.

 

Dharamshala, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune often have this much bounce or maybe more .... and these guys are fine then.

We are trying to find some irrelevant correlation. You are right. English pitches are not "bouncy" pitches. If you bang it in short you get bounce anywhere.  Probably movement is what troubled us more. Almost all the balls of Archer shaped away after pitching. It was not in the arc of Abhishek.  White balls do move anyway.  Sanju did hole out fo Archer's bouncers in India as well before finding his form.

I know Sarpunture is terrible and a clown,he has no captaincy acumen and should be kicked out as soon as possible 

But,India is a tournament team,they usually pick themselves up in big events and these guys play as per plan,if the leader is inspiring and confidence instilling the plans are mostly executed and eventually it contributes to wins

Hope we get a proper good leader here as well who doesn't compromise on the flair this line used to carry,yes they should adjust  as per conditions and always remain way above par batting and bowling,and fielding should atleast remain at par

our top order batsmen kept getting out to short of good length balls.. there was a graphic almost 60-70% wickets fell to those lengths.. I guess there was slight bounce more than india but less than aus/sa
