maniac Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Rahane has earned a long run....Still not totally sold on him but better than a lot and he dserves a long rope
Old guy Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Rahane has earned a long run....Still not totally sold on him but better than a lot and he dserves a long rope He is actually one guy who was judged from wrong format.. Don't think there is anyone better than him To take this position
flamy Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Check his Chu* giri in ODIs... In 2nd ODI, he attacked Steyn on very second ball he faced.. That's not the right temparament even for ODI standard .. so forget about Tests.. Plus, his technique is too weak for Tests.. We dont want another veeru in making.. Keep Dhawan in sub-continent tests but not in UK, Aus or SA.. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Why wouldn't you? :hmmmm2:
veer Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Why wouldn't you? :hmmmm2: Cuz I would rather take someone more dependable when playing outside of Asia..
Pagalpanti Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 ^Veeru has test centuries in SA, Aus. He was never flustered with bounce, it was swing that did him which is why he struggled a lot in Eng/NZ.
Lord Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 ^Veeru has test centuries in SA' date=' Aus. He was never flustered with bounce, it was swing that did him which is why he struggled a lot in Eng/NZ.[/quote'] he averages 20 odd in SA
cricketpitch Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 he averages 20 odd in SA Dravid averages under 30 too, does that mean that he is a bad player?
veer Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Dravid averages under 30 too' date=' does that mean that he is a bad player?[/quote'] Then please tell me why Veeru been sidelined for so long?? He relied heavily on hand and eye co-ordination skills without much foot work.. He was bound to fail sooner or later.. Dont want Dhawan to fall in same trap.
fineleg Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 The only reason he played that hook had nothing to do with his ego. His defense is really poor against short pitched bowling. He tried to defend of the back foot and popped the ball twice in the vacant short leg region and once towards gully. When SA put in a short leg he had no confidence defending the ball again as he knew that he is going to pop one soon' date= so he resorted to pull and hook. He isn't a great player of that either and not especially against bowlers bowling in excess of 140. He needs to find a way to play short pitched stuff otherwise the bowlers are going to target him with leg gully and short leg fielders. If true - the above paragraph sounds a replica of suresh raina (perhaps yuvi) in away Tests
Lord Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Dravid averages under 30 too' date=' does that mean that he is a bad player?[/quote'] Dravid's good in Aus,NZ,Eng though Sehwag's good only in Aus and Asia
mancalledsting Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 He still looks petrified and Dumminy is bowling Looks scared against Morkel face wise. But gets right in behind it. Ignore the face(some of you may have to that with your girl friends as well no doubt) this is quality….lol
jusarrived Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 If true - the above paragraph sounds a replica of suresh raina (perhaps yuvi) in away Tests I sad this before the start of series too . His technique against short ball is as bad or worse than Raina . Raina atleast when he gets it right , looks good , but Dhawan looks really ugly .
Laaloo Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Dravid averages under 30 too' date=' does that mean that he is a bad player?[/quote'] yes
Yoda-esque Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Rahane looked scared even when he hit 6 fours in an over http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KR-uRQdRpIQ
youngindia Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Agree. I am a bit worried about his judgement though. The way he has choosen to play in SAF is a bit strange. his approach was unintelligent.you cannot be fending all the time here. on these pitches you have to think a lot about your bat swing and mastery of the pullshot. dhoni showed he can pull morkel on the liveliest pitches.i have no confidence others can do the same on this kind of pitch.kohli to a lesser extent when the pitch eased out. he either has to duck ..or acquire the reliability of dhoni.not going to be easy...on more slower surfaces he can pull alright.
gattaca Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Good thread this tics. Rahane showing good application.
rkt.india Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Rahane certainly exceeded expectations. Tommorrow is a big test for him.
fineleg Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Rahane looked scared even when he hit 6 fours in an over http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KR-uRQdRpIQ Look at the bowler :) This bangalore trundler part of the Vennai Koomar legend triumvirate :winky: S. Aravind, A. Mithun and Vennai theeyaa-velai-seyyanum Kumar!
MCcricket Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 RAHANE DID DECENTLY, he did fish a couple, played some nice back foot drives, he hasn't played the pull or cut so one thing I wanna see him do convincingly, all batters did well, were not overawed, although quite smartly Steyn did out think Dhawan, he seemed to have the time to play the quicks,if we can play until lunch g8, also have a lot of faith in Ashwin he is a proper bat and plays pull and hook well surprisingly after not having a good range of backfoot square strokes initially. Also Dhoni has improved a lot in terms of batting on faster , bouncier tracks, hope his captaincy also improves and we bowl aggressively.
Cricketics Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 I am glad he ended the day as a not out batsman and also already scored 40 plus. Good to have him score those runs. Keep it going Ajinkya. You deserve more respect from people here.
