visited santa cruz for interview .. have to say the areas i saw in mumbai is better than seoul and some european cities

There's still so much land if the city were to grow vertically. The ultimate real estate stretch in India around Back bay from Nariman Point to Opera House is lined by tiny buildings and the ugly Antilla stands out.

Why did they take so long to decide to build the Bandra-Worli Sea link? It makes sense to route the traffic over the sea instead of in the mainland. Also..is there a plan to link Nariman point to Malabar hill over the sea? mumbai-map-city.jpg

I remember that project since school days but that area was famous for dates and movie shootings

What is the use when a huge chunk of the population lives in slums, undenourished, filthy,no running water, 1 toilet seat for 500 people etc. :(( Never have I seen as much inequality in India as in Mumbai, on one hand you have the amazing skyline and on the other hand is a sh!thole.

that is just not true. There is an issue of sanitation but mumbai does not have nourishment problems. The established slums as well have a better quality build than most houses in the villages and many other cities i have been to. Most of the slum dwellers do have white goods like TV and mobile phone etc along with a two wheeler. why do i get a feeling you have never actually been to mumbai.

and that bandra worli sea link was initiated by the sena-bjp government at the time along with the mumbai pune expressway. Problem is Congress ncp came to power and they had a preference for the rural areas. What should have happened is it should have been followed up with a worli haji ali sealink. These two projects should have run simultaneously. As of now there is a big bottleneck at the worli side.

True for most part. Even some nice residential areas and societies in South Mumbai have approaches littered with slums and shanties. Mumbai for most part is a grimy run down city. And yes, I have lived there for more than 3 years.

You may be right about nourishment, quality of build, TVs etc, I was there for only about 40 days during my college internship. But do the slums have toilets? I guess very few, overcrowded and no running water makes it so filthy !!!
