Younis breaks Miandad runs record

Younis Khan has broken the 22-year-old record of Javed Miandad to become Pakistan's leading Test run-scorer.

He broke Miandad's tally of 8832 runs in emphatic style on the opening day of the first Test against England when he launched Moeen Ali over deep midwicket for six during the final session in Abu Dhabi.

Most runs, average, hundreds, catches

53.97 Younis Khan's Test average, which is the best among Pakistan batsmen who have batted at least 20 innings. The two other Pakistan batsmen who average more than 52 are Javed Miandad (52.57) and Mohammad Yousuf (52.29). He is 15th in the all-time list of top run-scorers in Tests. Among the list of top run-getters from each country, two have a higher average than Younis - Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (57.40) and South Africa's Jacques Kallis (55.25).

Congratz to YK ...  sad part is that he has only played 102 Tests and is nearing 38 years old.

However he seems fit and hopefully will keep going on for a few more years to come.

This guy is great batsman and more over he looked like a great captain who was trying different things. He would have already crossed 10,000 runs had he not missed tests.

Things are weird over there , they kick out a world cup winning captain for no reason. They made Malik the captain over this guy.

Class batsman but pretty mediocre against pace bowlers I have to say.I like watching younis in the sub continent wkts,he is a beast in these conditions and damn good against spinners

good guy and competitor, good for him that he got to play for such a long time.  Classy person unlike a lot of his current and former team-mates.

You haven't read a lot of his comments recently then. He is definitely the rudest person in the current team.

"I shouldnt be compared to Misbah I'm more senior & experienced than him": Younis Khan

And then Misbah replies: "Younis Khan is in a different class. He has 100+ Test matches whereas I have only 58-60 tests. He has played many more matches than me and he is right that you cannot compare him with me" "Younis Khan is still playing tests. He is the main man in tests. We won 18 matches in my captaincy out of which i guess if you remove Younis's scores we wouldn't be winning maybe 16 of those tests"

The guy is nowhere near Miandad's class. Has enjoyed a terrific run mostly because Pakistan hardly ever travel outside Asia. Not to mention, averages today are not the same as averages 20 years ago.
