Ultimate_Game Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) Massive kudos and respect to this English side the way they chased a target of 230 in a T20 The accomplishment is all the more creditable given England did it in a virtual knockout match for them. if they had lost today they would've been eliminated from the tourney for all practical purposes and they came out and chased 230 when most teams would've buckled under pressure. Adi_91 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Am short of words to praise this effort. This is remarkable in every sense. tweaker 1
PBN Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wankhede has been a high scoring ground in the IPL but this chase surpassed even that. India is not playing any matches in Mumbai? England's already played 2 there...I suppose to minimize travel time many teams are playing a couple of games at the same ground but to make it interesting for the fans, they should have spread out the matches all across India. jf1gp_1 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Absolutely fantastic chase. Both the games today were good. Adi_91 1
fineleg Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 England used to be a Boycott/Alastair Cook like slow boring limited overs side. Which England is this? What a transformation! adi B and tweaker 2

The Realist Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Lol comparing Rahane to Root is just silly. Root can play in every format with ease will Rahane is a deer in the headlights apart from tests. adi B and tweaker 2
MK55 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 44 of the first 2 overs. The start set it up nicely. England has got loads of power in their batting line up. Stokes, Butler, Hales, Roy, Morgan..And then there's Root who's perhaps among the top 5 batsmen in the world. The way he placed the ball against the quicks showed his class. tweaker 1
adi B Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Excellent chase by England, mind boggling how easily they chased this and how easily they calculated the risk .root was fantastic, best in the world!!
bulbul Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Brilliant chase...one of the best under pressure as they are almost out of the tourney after SA innings.Having said this there is a chance they can lose against Afgan. adi B 1
beetle Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 When Saffies were beating the hell out of the pommies...I felt so bad for them. What a chase!Root was brilliant . sandeep 1

He ll only get betterIts just painful to watch in short format, even though he has played few very gud innings in OdiBut if he plans to play to make a career in short formats, Watch these guys how they construct their innings. All this excuse of not having abilty to play shots is rubbish. He can play shots but just doesnt have the sense to construct an innings like them

There are some guys like VVS, Murali Vijay, Rahane, pujara etc. who simply are not suited to shorter formats.

chewy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 the england powerplay was surreal, Roy and Hales were brilliant
sandeep Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) First 5 overs of Saffers' batting, I thought Pommies gave the game away. Deserved to win, the way they batted. But the mental fragility of the Saffer bowling was stupendous as well. A few lusty blows early on, and they just couldn't get it right. I think even India would have bowled better. I don't understand how a team can consistently choke like this across generations of players.England has the most firepower in their team - Arguably Australia's tail starts earlier than theirs. Buttler, Roy, Root, Stokes - that core four can carry England for a few years. Edited March 18, 2016 by sandeep
