It is amazing how we as Indians love to treasure our past glories.This holds true not just for cricket but for all professions and walks of life. 

We of course saw Sachin Tendulkar, who had to be literally begged to go. I think it will be something similar for Dhoni too. 

After  last 20-20 World Cup, I thought the jury was in after losing the last WC final mainly down to one man. Yuvraj was a shadow of one of our greatest ODI batsman ever. But I had underestimated our capacity for giving more than one second chances. Don't know what has changed in two years. His body language still doesn't look great. He doesn't look confident. You know as opposition that you just bowl outside off or get an off spinner around the wicket. It is quite sad in a way. Seeing him play 2 balls against Bangladesh you knew it was a matter of time. 

I have always admired the ruthlessness and vision for future that Australians have when it comes to the future. Don't know how our judgement gets so clouded even when reality is slapping us in the face. Maybe Yuvraj would provide that last vibrant flicker of flame before it goes off. It still is a huge risk when you have another sitting duck Raina there.

After watching batting of Dhawan , Raina and to some extent Sharma ,it looks unfair to target Yuvraj Only. Dhoni may be good captain in field but outside he is the worst in finding talent , he just sticks with old guns

I was just going to post this. Yuvraj is struggling a bit, but thanks to the misery of Dhawan and Raina, his spot seems safe.

Fair enough the selectors sometimes lack the ruthlessness, but what about the player themselves, when evident there are better prospects waiting in line who have outperformed you in domestic cricket, IPL, even international cricket then they should have self-respect and decency to admit they are not good enough anymore and step down to give more deserving players their opportunity.

As the OP cited the ruthlessness of Australian selectors, but even many times Australian players have taken decisions themselves to retire on high and give others chance.

On Yuvraj, he is mentally shot, reflexes too slow, painful to watch him bat and field. And liability when running between the wickets. Every match so many twos are turned down by him because he himself knows he is not quick enough.

When you have players like Raina, Dhoni still playing for your country, then Yuvi's selection is justifiable too. The main reason he's in the team is because he offers a better 5th bowling option than Raina, but mysteriously enough he has not even bowled a single delivery in this tournament.

And why don't the gutless captain come in to bat ahead of Yuvraj just like the way he did in 2011 finals?

Raina is actually statistically our best bowler in this competition with 6 overs in 3 matches. IE there is some return on him.  I dont think people would be moaning that much had Yuvi bowled and got a few wickets. It would mean Pandya would bowl less (his economy is close to 10 despite playing in 3 low scoring games). There is something up with Yuvraj. Bowled in the Asia cup and nothing in the WC. 

In the match v Bangladesh last 5 overs yielded 34 runs. In that period Yuvi scored 3 runs in 6 balls. So 4 overs yielded 31 runs without Yuvi. Even ignoring stuff like sucking the momentum out of the chase.

I hope I eat humble pie (i would love to) but Yuvi is a liability especially if he does not bowl to a certain standard.

Batting wise its just an one man team as of now. I have no hopes on yuvraj and dhawan, but somehow want rohit, and raina to get into form in todays match.

Given the constraints today (i.e. morons Dhawan, Raina and Rohit. And his injury), Yuvi did ok today. If he had stayed any longer it might have hurt us, but he at least stabilized things before Dhoni and Kohli's magnificent finish

in today's match, with yuvi unable to connect big hits and then getting injured, then not running quickly, kohli getting fustrated...i thought oh no, de ja vu 2014 World T20 final.

Yuvi got out at the right time. Had he stayed, even Kohli's brilliance wouldn't have helped us.

I was constantly laughing at Yuvi for 5 minutes between match , Kohli require a partner that helps him running two's and not an old unfit guy

please play at #4 after Kohli...Dhoni to drop Raina for anybody...even my chapraasi. Raina is where YV  was in 2014 WT20.

I think too be fair Yuvi did his job today as an allrounder. He cover for the Ashwin quota and bowled well. I have no issue with Yuvi if he delivers this standard of performance. A bit with the ball or the bat.  I thought MSD should have tried out Raina as well. 

Provided Yuvi and Raina as i said bowl to a certain standard i dont mind. Their failures with the bat can be compensated for somewhat. But at the moment neither is good enough to be in the team simply based on the batting. 

Overall I thought Yuvi had a good match today and provided MSD and eek out 2 overs from him and Raina on average they are worth a spot.

In a small batting friendly stadium like Wankhede a big hitter like Yuvi would be handy.

And he bowled well today.

Not as doomsday a scenario as some of you guys are making it out to be.
