Remember dhoni was not ready when he made a debut....I will go with pant and keep kishan for A tours

Pant is gud but needs time n as of now better candidates are there

U r talking about only one aspect which is his batting ..... I m talking about his wicket keeping....he was pretty bad and very ordinary keeper

Simple message to BCCI : If you can't try someone new even in a Zimbabwe tour, then you're not trying..

 

Dinesh Karthik had a dream run in IPL 2013, did well in the Champions trophy the same year.. and was dropped for no reason... That could have been the start of his comeback to Intl cricket.. He still does well in IPLs, but is inconsistent... I would give him a fair run in T20I... He can't do worse than Dhoni.

Karthik did well in warmup games n did ok in champiosn trophy den went to wi n failed miserbaly. So nothing gr8 done by him to be in team when main keepr return and tehn got a chance in asia cup failed miserably n dropped a lot of catches

 

Same in this ipl, drpped catches looked lazy and most times absent minded, was also involved in mindless running . Even he was complete mindless runner in when he played for rcb where in one game he got kohli n abdv run out so stupidly and almost got safraz out and srafraz bashed for running liek an idiot. 

 

Sorry all the talent he had he didnt ahve the right temp. He is a choker and a complete absent minded guy. He n uthappa both r only 360 deg player in country but never utilise their chances. N their keeping no comaprison to dhoni.

 

Karthik is worst than dhoni. Dhoni shud jst leave captaincy n tht will change his game completely.

His keeping was very avg n dropped few in early matches but thts obv becoz of nervousness. Their were also stories of bhajji n yuvi bullying him a lot which can affect a youngster confidence. Anyways those r just stories .

 

But at the point the prob was parthiv wk went to worst he cost us aus tour and many many games , finally he was dropped n karthik was picked who was really a gud keeper but his batting didnt contribuite a lot.

 

So dhoni was the most safe option and he was a match winner with bat and i think he was icc no 1 for a vry long time fron start. N boy he did improve like nything unlike patel n karthik who went downwards. 

 

Now u look at their keeping kathik who was sharp looks absent minded , patel nothing gr8 and dhoni jst look at the guy doing those stumping n his presence of mind is brilliant. His batting has gone down becoz of lack of self confidence n batting low which has affected his rhytem n confidence. N when u hve ben captain for long it make u mentally tired . It happend with sourav also we all rem how his batting fell apart n tht was worse than dhoni but after leaving his captaincy how he came back. Coz he was free from all pressure n he enjoyed n concentrated on his game

Dhoni came to Zimbawe to score 28 runs....Those 28 runs doesnt matter at all..What more important is that his experience and his help to get India A players exposure of internationals,especially Rishi Dhawan.

Not in T20 internationals, he never was. Hasn't scored a single 50 yet. He is one of the ODIs GOATs no doubt but he never was a great in T20s. A very useful player if you take his keeping and captaincy along with batting but he will not be near the top T20 players

In the Zimbabwe ODIs, Dhoni was reluctant to test the bench strength in the last game even after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Youngsters Jayant Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat warmed the benches throughout the series after Dhoni refrained from making wholesale changes.   

HANDLING THE FAST BOWLERS

More often than not, Dhoni, after defeats, has been taking cover in his bowlers' poor performances. He has been reluctant to go for pace and has often sidelined Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron. His persistence with military medium pacers of the likes Mohit Sharma and Sreenath Aravind has been heavily criticised.

HORSES FOR COURSES?

Dhoni was under the scanner once again in Zimbabwe despite having a successful campaign. His decision to hold back Manish Pandey has drawn flak. Pandey, who scored a match-winning century in January against Australia in Sydney, faced only one ball over three games in his next international assignment in Zimbabwe. Dhoni defied logic by sending Ambati Rayudu at No. 3 in the second ODI when India were chasing a modest total of 126. If India are looking to fill the middle order spot left vacant by an out-of-form Suresh Raina, bringing in the young and proven Pandey would make more sense.

PERSONAL FORM

Dhoni's magical knocks that have done the job for India over the years are becoming a rarity. The wicketkeeper-batsman is not being able to finish games as good he used to. The fading ability was exposed during India's tour to Australia earlier this year. In the five one-day internationals, Dhoni who came in, after solid platforms set by the top-order batsmen, failed to provide the necessary acceleration in the end overs. With Dhoni, scoring at run-a-ball in the end overs, India fell decisively short of 20-30 runs in almost all the games.

HIS REPORTED DIFFERENCES WITH ASHWIN

Dhoni seems to have turned his back on his go-to-man Ravichandran Ashwin. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner completed his quota of four overs only four times in nine matches across Asia Cup T20 and World T20 tournaments.

ARROGANCE CREEPING IN?

Dhoni might be bored of answering the same set of questions again and again but with his fading abilities to motivate his team, critics have every right to query him about his shelf life.

Dhoni seems to be showing an indifferent attitude at press conferences when a probing question is being directed at him. The way Dhoni ridiculed an Australian journalist over retirement question after India's loss to West Indies in the World T20 2016 semi-final speaks volumes about a captain who doesn't want to take responsibility.

I think his hitting zones are well-known and he's been coralled as a batsman now at the international level. Definitely a case for trying out someone new in T20s.  Still effective enough in ODIs, but time to start auditioning his replacement at the T20 level.  

 

Pant and Kishan are too raw.  Its a shame Sanju Samson faded, he showed a lot of promise.  Not that many quality keeper-batsmen in India.  We can't afford not to have one - especially since we dont have allrounders outside of the keeping spot.
