Malcolm Merlyn Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 What was it?Their batting clicked or our bowling failed? tweaker 1
Adi_91 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Their positive approach to batting clicked. Our defensive mindset from Day 2 failed us big time as well. velu, sscomp32 and tweaker 3
zen Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) Neither this, nor that .... a mix of both Additionally, much like pitch/conditions assisted Ind bowling on day 4, pitch/conditions supported batting on day 5 Edited August 4, 2016 by rett tweaker and express bowling 2
kruiser Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Credit to WI spirit. cricket is a game of skill that has liberal doses of luck! Jaffas dont get a wicket and long hop gutter balls get a centurion sometimes. It was just not our day.. that being said, the bowling lacked a plan. Ishant and Umesh did not make Batsmen play enough. Ashwin and Mishra did not bowl enough the short of good length ripping spinning deliveries. express bowling 1
Trichromatic Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 1 wicket in entire 5th day. 1 was gifted by umpire. I am not how many times that has happened in test cricket. They attacked this bowling and Indian team had no answers. Nothing new, they have struggled like this before. KP in India, Big Mac in NZ. This bowling line up is clueless against such batting approach. Generally if batsmen are attacking you need at least one pacers to take the lead. Unfortunately Shami and Umesh haven't played much and even the guy who played 70 matches bowls like club bolwer. Batting was good to exploit this weakness of Indian bowlers. But they need to improve on this part quickly as it will be a big problem against other teams. beautifulgame, sandeep, Ankit_sharma03 and 2 others 5

Even on flattest tracks good teams manage 3-4 or more wickets on day 1 when there is absolutely no help at all.

We could not get a single wicket on day 5 in India. We have seen whole day long partnerships before. It is not like it has happened for the first time. Dravid-Laxman at Eden. Dravid-Laxman again Australia 2003. Jaysuriya-Mahanama did it against us. Rightarmfast 1

Apart from Mahanama , all of the batsmen were class batsmen, The chase and Dowlrich are not even recognised in test cricket.Blackwood , Chase , Dowrich , Holder . These are not even in category of average test batsmen .On the other hand Ishant , is playing from 8 years , Yadav -5 and Ashwin is consider as one of top spinner in world
tweaker Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 If opposition put our players in pressure, they get broken under it.The way Blackwood attacked our bowlers, they loose the plot velu and express bowling 2

It's far from the unfavorable condition to pick only 1 wicket. Very good batting assisted by poor bowling. Edited August 4, 2016 by Vibhash tweaker 1
tweaker Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 It was a very poor bowling display by our bowlers.Ashwin again was not able to pick wickets.Ishant,Yadav & Mishra were poor. They were not able to pick wickets on 5 day pitch, when the opposition was 4 wicket down. They just thought they have turned up,they will pick the remaining wickets.T hey didn't have any plans. When Blackwood attacked them, they didn't have any answers.
gakgupta Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 India is not the country where we get class pace bowlers consistently.....atleast they are doing better now, as compared to earlier generations. It's a lapse in the bowling attack which is bound to happen, with the class we have......this could continue to happen, here and there, unless we can find another zaheer khan... Unfortunately, Ishant cannot get 6 bowls at the same area even after 8 years of international cricket.....Shami is miles ahead of him.... I am still happy with overall improvement, esp with catching.... This team is still competent in all conditions...... Misshy has declined many folds.....is this the temporary decline or permanent ....only time will tell.... express bowling 1

Chase and Dowrich may be debutants but every good player makes his name by playing innings like these.

Capetown 2010, Durban 2013 and then that test in NZ. We got draws from winnings positions and Zaheer was there in all three games. People highly overrate him.
express bowling Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 The pitch became very easy paced on day 5 -- all our bowlers apart from Shami did not bowl well -- the WI batters were very impressive. Everything contributed. But this is test match -- batsmen often bat throughout the day. The WI have found 2 very good batters in Chase and Dowrich. Rightarmfast, tweaker and Mosher 3
Bigg Brother Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Their approach was simple..Go and attack..Giving the first over to Mishra worked against us.They started scoring freely against Mishra.Ishant showed his true talent..Ashwin looked frustrated.Yadav tried to bowl bouncers as well reverse swing but couldnt execute it well. sscomp32 and tweaker 2

Bigg Brother Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 We can expect Jaddu to replace Mishra...Mishra was bowling lollypops and he is liability in fielding. tweaker, express bowling and sscomp32 3
sscomp32 Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 We started on the wrong foot by bowling mishra. WI attacked mishra read bad and after that the bowling attacked just crumbled under pressure. Not a single wicket by the bowlers. One was a brilliant catch and next was a gift. tweaker 1
