Rahul has scored a 76 at a SR of 87 in the first  Ranji innings that he has played after return.  Shows that he is in touch.

 

I feel he should be called for the 2nd test ....this England series is too damn important for us to be stuck with protocols.   Gambhir is just not good enough now and Nair is an unknown entity.

We are playing with 4+1 batsman.+1 being Ashwin. Time to do some change in batting order. Either drop Mishra and get in some bat like Pandya who could bowl a bit. Or just get one more bat.

If Kohli is reluctant to drop Gambhir, then GG should play in the middle order probably at 5 with Pujara opening and Rahane at 3

which is to expose them early on and when there is less runs on board, so that they look to conserve as they score under pressure. First game there was no pressure on England.

Nah Gambhir is done. Has a mediocre record v Eng and only in the team due to selectors being so damn lazy.

That is what  I want too. Play this innings and leave for the test venue.

 

BCCI can easily do it and should do it.

ya but they have already decided the team for first 2 tests ... selecters are dead duck to take bold decisions
only if kohli and kumble ask for rahul then something can happen...better kumble ask for  otherwise kohli gambo controversy will emerge again

Yes...it has to be from Kumble...and I am not ruling out the possibility that it would.

Really really sad. for we didn't win but more because we didn't  manage to get 20 wickets. I hope our batsmen got the measure and enough footage of opposition bowling attack and batsmen. We should create spinning track.

 

As Pakistanis/Aussies exposed, Cook has weakness to a line on 5th Stump. Our bowlers were trying to get him out on pads. Result, they got him out once second time he took the game away from us.

Since the match is happening close to Vizag (at Vizaianagaram), it's good to have him in the squad and he is available for selection," Kumble elaborated.

 

When asked about the possible inclusion of Jimmy Anderson in the England starting line-up

 

Kumble praised the Indian fast bowlers Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami for their performances during the New Zealand series as well as the first Test against England despite not getting too many wickets.

"Fast bowlers did really well. Shami and Umesh bowled exceptionally well. They got the ball to reverse and trouble the English batsmen. Umesh and Shami not only bowled well at Rajkot but also against New Zealand, so did Bhuvi, all the fast bowlers are doing well."

Kumble also defended the bowlers, stating that it was a good wicket to bat on and six tons from either side proved that.

"If you look at the first innings, both teams batted nearly 160 overs. It was a challenge for bowlers to pick wickets. It was a good wicket to bat on. Save last day, those 60 overs, I don't read too much into batting. There were six Test centuries, two from our side and four from their side. It was a good Test match."

Great news.....also having x factor along with the "K" factor seems to be benefiting Rahul immensely  under Kumble(K does not stand for Kohli or Kumble-take a guess )but  awesome  for the team so will leave it at that
