Over to Vizag.What changes to be made?

Not doubting Pant's talent or potential at all but no way should we thrust him into test cricket immediately as some have suggested on the basis of clobbering domestic attacks. The shorter format is where he first needs to get his opportunity. 

Why would you select someone for the shorter formats based on the form in Ranji trophy .

Nonsense logic that .

If he performs in Ranji as he is doing , should be selected for A tours and eventually the test team .FC cricket is no the criteria for ODIs or t20s

^ That is because traditionally India has been using the play them first in ODI and then to Tests route. (for most, exceptions aside).

Hardly. Pant had a better average and strike rate throughout the tournament. Also played two crucial innings to win. That's pretty impressive for a rookie as compared to a IPL veteran.

 

Regardless, I wasn't advocating to drop Saha, just pointing out that it wasn't only domestic bowlers he faced which the poster I quoted alluded too.

and can he tell how many wickets has Ishant Sharma picked in India in last 4 years. If not for those dropped catches, Umesh would have 3-4 wickets to his name in the first innings. I do not understand this unconditional love for Ishant.

U didnt Add the main line from the interview that one of the big reason for saying this was that he believes ishant bowls better to left handers.

Ishant couldnt even take wkts in Ranji game

No other major team would have given someone as useless as Ishant Sharma so many chances to consistently flop. Its embarrassing that he is still part of the conversation.

Ishant is equally fast, but does not pick wickets either that is what would break hearts.

Sometimes Dada makes some very good observations. Other times he makes some very bakwaas suggestions. Mr. Spearhead is best left to carrying drinks, and Umesh Yadav bowled well at Rajkot.

So on overall skills Ishant it is....he has been in very good wicket taking form from the last 2 years.....poor form and loads of bad luck from 4

In the last major home series v SA last year he took a grand total of ONE wicket at an average of 115.

 

Last time Eng toured he managed a massive 4 wickets in the series.

 

Even other team's back up bowlers have better record than this imposter of a cricketer.

Ishant has done well outside India in the last two and a half years. 

 

In India he has not done that well, perhaps due his lack of expertise with reverse swing.
