Dhoni, with Virat as MVP of the tournament. Kohli needs to just concentrate on his batting and leading India's test team for now. ODI captaincy can wait.  I want to see Dhoni lead us to another world cup. Him coming up the order is also great for us.

I would decide based on how we do in the champions trophy

Another consideration would be whether it is wise to add additional burden on Kohli with the England and Australia tours coming in the lead up to the world cup.

As for the votes , Dhoni is still the second most popular cricketer in India behind Sachin .He would wipe the floor in any such poll

Our odi team kinda sucks. Most players get injured at the wrong time. I wouldn't trust KL to last long in a tournament that long, so have to keep a backup opener.

We have Dhawan who is still a quality opener in Odis and wouldn't mind giving Pant a chance as well.

I don't like Kohli due to Anushka and weird selfies. He also lost too much fat/weight, and volume from face. Doesn't look same Virat. He looks palatable only under a helmet these days.

Wherever KL bats, we have to keep a backup option for that spot.

No. Let Rahul be used on top and prove his fitness. Pandey should be backed. He has been brilliant so far with a brilliant match winning century overseas chasing 300 plus.
