so only fair to praise him when he's been wonderful in this match w.r.t keeping. Everything behind the wicket was caught and caught cleanly. 

Now opening the batting after keeping 155 overs. Excellent dedication by him, and notwithstanding how many runs does he score, he deserves to be commended for this.

I prefer judging players by performance rather than personal bias. You seem to be the opposite.

I want to thank him for his services to the Indian team. He is leaving the Indian test career on high - managed to find a way to open in his last game.

Yes, this is perfectly fine. He can be a Left-Handed opener (or reserve opener) in Squad.

M. Vijay, KL Rahul, Parthiv Patel (or A. Mukund) - openers in test squad.

He is FAR better than Shikhar Dhawan.

But - keeping skills

Yes....way better. He is more consistent than Dhawan in test cricket. But needs to convert his half centuries to centuries. The day he does that I bet he will become a much more confident and better batsman. That's the reason why his career couldn't take off. That and his keeping was/is bad-mediocre on most days.

He offers a good package as a backup opener and reserve w/k in overseas tours..his keeping in this test match is much better ..
