Don't worry. Even Tendulkar was dropped as captain.

I think since Dhoni has given up LOI captaincy, this was probably why he might have given up IPL captaincy as well.  I reckon it might be only for a year or so though.  Nevertheless, he's still the most decorated Indian and IPL captain.

LMAO, so Sachin, who every source says stepped down, was dropped but Dhoni, who every source says was dropped, stepped down? This is Trump level alternate facts

This is the twilight of Dhoni's career so big deal if he's not the captain.  Heck, he's not even the captain of India anymore.  Some people are just overjoyed at the news but are quick to defend and fap to anything related to their 'fave' players.  This is akin to Tendulkar poor form at the end of his career and how people were celebrating and feeling vindicated for years of criticism that they had dished out lol.

Dhonis heroics in the last over of the last game was the reason Pune finished 7th last season. They would have been last otherwise.

Quite a great leap I see. Ashok dinda'esque.

Dhoni now an ordinary captain unfortunately...once upon a time, he was the best captain.

the only thing in favour of him vs smith is that this (pune) is an IPL team comprising of Indian players but the new captain is not Indian. Otherwise, it's a good decision.

lol... Srini mama was shielding Dhoni's backside, and now he's been kicked out Dhoni has got no where to run to. It's good thing fans have started to realize his true worth.

You seem to have some latent hate issues with srini Dhoni csk etc. Bangalore kannadiga ? Your moniker lol lannister.

Wow! I don't think anybody was expecting this.

Somebody make sure Sidhoni doesn't harm himself.

That should have been done earlier this year when he stepped down as India captain, nearly cried my eyes out. :((

Smith ran away last year & was chilling or practicing for next tour...Not sure about even this year..Starc already has pulled out..Rahane would have been good choice.

Ya, since the team might last one year, should have offered to someone like Rahane, unless he did not want which is a different thing.

I think Faf was the obvious choice. But he is not "young" as the scumbag owner demands.

Also because SA players may not be available during the last stages of this IPL.

Lol I won't pick any south african, aus, english regular players as captain as they might run away any time.

Was trying to use the word last as many times as possible.

No offense to Dhoni but how much of the success of CSK has to be attributed to him and his captaincy.CSK teams were always loaded.

Unlike Kohli who is leading with performances by being the best player on the team . Dhoni never was best player on any of the teams he led and yet somehow managed to be captain for so long and that is a great achievement.

Without Dhoni CSK wouldnțt have won a fraction of what it did. That is not even up for debate.

RPS took the decision a year late. The team will definitely do better than last year. It was an important decision before the auctions otherwise Dohni would've screwed up the RPS chances.

Asterix da

RPS didnt take the decision. The owner Sanjiv Goenka did. Not a cricket coach, nor a team of experts but the head of a conglomerate.

The bigger question is, should owners interfere so blatantly in a sport that they have little understanding of?

Or is RPS the personal plaything of Sanjiv Goenka? Is there any kind of a democratic set up where a panel decides who stays and who doesnț? Or is it based on the owners whims?
