Compare Virat Kohli With Me When He Bats At No.6, Says Umar Akmal

:yousuck:

“When people compare me with Kohli, it’s not fair. It’s a matter of batting positions.” Akmal went on to say that Kohli might not be able to perform as much if he was batting at a different position. “Since his (Kohli) debut, he is batting at no. 3 and I have been playing at No. 6. Let me play at 3 and Kohli at 6, then compare me with him.”

Even if i take his bullshit example of position, lets talk about fitness. Who has stopped you to achieve virat's fitness levels

These people have no shame. You know what his actual beef is now?

It is not actually Kohli. He is trying to indirectly say to Pakistani management that he is not getting chances to bat up like youngsters like Babar Azam in their team. Babar Azam has been one of their finds and a good young player for them whom they can develop, but he is jealous of other youngsters in his team and has a superiority complex of seeing them do well and get all the attention.

This is the story of most Pakistani batsmen, they are jealous of each other and don't enjoy each other's success like how our players do.

You look at a player like Raina who is genuinely happy for his team mates like Kohli, to whom he surrendered his slot and then see this guy, there is a massive difference. I am glad we don't have such "Sifarshi" players who are jealous of each other's success.

i think it is because in India, Raina still is able to get a very good living out of his career with IPL and BCCI purse etc. In pak due to lack of resources it becomes a rat race.

Still man, you know it is in their culture. You watch Shoaib Akhtsr's interviews how he explains so much hatred among all players in Pakistani camp. It is their team culture. It has been passed upon. No one is excited about each other's success barring few sane players like Younis Khan and Misbah ul Haq.

You take out Misbah and Younish Khan and to some extent Inzi out of pakiistan team, most their players have been talked badly about being jealous by all their fellow cricketers. Akhtar has shared in so many stories about Akram and co,m and Moin , Yousuf etc have been in battle with their fellow players a lot on tv channels where they have lost it and are lambasting each other of their past on live tv channels.

This has been Umar Akmal's whine for years now.  Instead of focusing on the opportunities that he has gotten, and maximizing them, he's always been too busy looking for reasons (external to him of course) why he isn't successful.   Guy with his mentality doesn't deserve to be in a Ranji team, forget national.  But for the drought of international class batting in Pakistan, he would be nowhere.

And in a way, its emblamatic of Pakistan as a country as well.  They still feel in their weird inferiority-superiority complex, that if not for xyz _____ fill in the blank reason, they would be so much better than India - economically or by any other metric.  The fact that they've pissed away the resources and advantages that they had, just doesn't seem to sink in.

Indus f'n valley the best in ancient India, the reason a civilization was called Indian and phenomenally rich plateaus and plains. One of the most strategic geographic positions in the world, overlooking the central asian trade routes and most critical sea lines in the world, impressive physical spread, lol and they become a festering terror republic. BD with clear lack of resources in comparison is doing much better.

Wait....if Kohli plays at 6 and Akmal at 3 wouldn't it be the same wrong comparison as according to him they are not comparable because he bats at 6 and Kohli at 3 :hmmmm:

There's a massive sense of entitlement that's been passed down.  Because once these players become "names", they feel they are entitled to play for 10+ years as "seniors".  It becomes about doing just enough to preserve that spot, and not about playing for the team.  It doesn't help that the PCB selections and all is also along similarly foolish lines, and way too much chop and change - it becomes a survival instinct to look out first for your own self.  That attitude breeds selfish cricketers, and at the worst end of the spectrum, cricketers who are willing to sell their souls for a quick buck.

Yes, als Umar Akmal has been known for playing games and being big dramebaaz.

He tried to be really smart. PCB wanted to play him as batsman who could keep. He kept wickets for few games but started showing how he is injured and can only play as a batsman and can't keep. He wanted to basically make sure that his brother Kamran, who was dropped that time, to get his place back as keeper, in the team. That did not happen and both got dropped soon :)

Dude, they inherited massive stretch of quality agricultural land, much smaller population base, and tons of aid and loans for selling out to the US as "most allied ally".   Instead of building on that, they were too busy playing soldier, soldier trying to defeat India.  Now in spite of being in massive debt, they waste massive chunks of their budget buying chinese pataake.   Its a cultural thing, since their "independence", those that have come to power, influence or money, have not been on the strength of merit or achievement - its been various forms of goonda-ism, whether in military flavor or otherwise.  The mafia mentality is to consolidate one's turf, and fight against potential usurpers - i.e other goondas, not build and invest in it.   Never going to lead to progress unless massive changes are made.
