At a bare minimum, the captain of the Australian team was caught cheating by the umpire after he was given out.  Potentially, the entire team has been cheating and been observed doing so by VK - he has claimed as much.  

 

 

Even Michael Clarke said that it appears that there's some fire to this smoke.  I'm really curious to see how the ICC handles this.

What were Kohli's specific words regarding the officials being informed? Did he specifically say that the match referee had been informed, or were his words more general in the sense that perhaps only umpires were may have been informed?

He says quite explicitly in his press conference that he informed both the umpires twice while he was batting and also the match referee although not clear if he went to Broad himself or had reason to believe Broad had been informed.

Goosy - Michael Clarke has gone on record supporting VK at this point.  Broad has just said that he is "not aware" of any other instance.  That doesn't automatically mean VK had not notified the umpires.  The Broad quote is a clear attempt to spin the issue - interesting that its a Brit Paper that has gotten that statement, and none of the Aussie papers seem to have it yet.

Match referee Broad has said that Smith would not face any penalty because umpire Nigel Llong intervened before any indiscretion was actually committed.

Just in...ICC to take no action against Kohli or Smith. Case closed. The only way to force an investigation is for BCCI to make a complaint.

Damn.  

 

BCCI with all its current internal chaos, and the revenue tussle, is not really in a position to push too much on this.  Its actually ICC's responsibility to investigate whether there was a systematic attempt at cheating by the Aussies.  But like the Du Plessis incident, ICC won't do jack on its own unless forced to react by some media leak of damning footage.

ICC again showed it has no guts to punish players from either England or Australia. I do not think players from either side have ever been suspended for anything. They surely did not have saints playing for them.Richardson is disgrace to be CEO.

Only way something happens here is if additional incriminating footage is discovered.  At least there is a chance - if this series was being played outside India, there would be no hope.    Just like the security camera footage that would have convicted Anderson mysteriously "disappeared".

Sutherland would not have issued that statement just like that, he has Richardson under his nose and CA must have asked ICC to close the case and it has been closed.

Yeah, but if a damning video surfaces, ICC's hand would be forced.

I hope it does, by closing the case ICC has indirectly said Virat you are liar. ICC should be saying okay we will go thru footage and see if Kohli's claims are legit if not we will punish Kohli. I do not mind Kohli getting punished if he what he said turns out to be false. As a national captain you cannot be saying those things unless you have proof.

 

Kohli clearly said two things we have spoken to umpires and match referee so it is very simple ask those three gentlemen if what Kohli said is true or false case closed.
