What has Kohli done to be charged against? Is ICC out of its mind?

The ICC has confirmed that it will not be pressing charges against Australia captain Steven Smith, India captain Virat Kohli, or any other players in relation to the DRS incident in the Bengaluru Test.

 

WTF guys - is ICC out of its mind. Ok. You dont want to press charges against Smithy. But what on earth you are smoking when you say Virat Kohli?

 

And by the way Mr. Richardson - who are you to encourage our teams to stay focussed on Ranchi test. We know what we need to do.

I think they meant Kohli being angry on his own dismissal during 2nd innings when DRS showed no conclusive evidence and then Kohli looked angry after being given out by DRS.

If a player makes a serious public criticism of he opposition (true or not), that is not permitted, and could be a level 2 offense under the ICC code of conduct.

 

by not charging Kohli, the ICC said that he did not make a serious public criticism.

I think laws don't state clearly that chargers can be applied if a batsmen is looking at his dressing room. 

 

Even though it is cheating, it isn't blatant cheating like ball tampering etc and hence he got away with it. It does make sense. May be they will add it for future in the laws.

 

 Smith got away with the fine luckily becuse of that.

it doesn't cause irreversible damage, probably that's why it is not punishable and makes sense. 

 

Smith isn't lucky. He would have been lucky if there was rule for fining in such cases and he had got away.

If they get away with any restriction then it would certainly be an irreversible damage. I am comparing it with other rules and the cases when you get caught. For ex - ball tampering, you can't have any other punishment or simply ball change won't suffice because game would have already been affected even if it caught at some time and hence it needs to be discouraged strongly. However, in case of review it won't affect other decisions or play and not allowing players to review at that time is enough.

maybe it's time to set this crap aside and focus on the up coming match. Quite sure the players themselves gives zero fudge atm about this incident, the fans should also know when to let things go.

No one is charged, smith learned his lesson, virat should stop getting too angry, we won the match at the end. And that's that.
