Too bad for him, but not as big a blow as it seems. He is the lowest wicket taker among the 4-man Aussie bowling attack. So they just lost their least efficient bowler on the tour. No need to make such a big deal about it.

Massive massive blow for the Aussies. Surely its gonna be 3-1 now.  He was the only game changer in their side. Hazlewood and Lyon can be wicket takers but we can manage them. Starc was the one player who could have changed the game at will. I expect Virat to strike form and their other bowlers wouldn't stop him.

Exactly, I mentioned about 10 times earlier, he is going to break down in the series and here you go. 

 

Hazlewood was always going to be the threat, the bigger threat. And here we are hearing Starc has been injured.

 

Aus will do themselves a favor by playing Bird. He's a terrific bowler.

Bird for Starc might be about OK for them on the bowling front.  More than offset by the fact that Mitch Marsh is out of the XI.

In his defense,he has been really fit for a fast bowler these days especially someone who bowls at the pace he does....He played the entire Pakistan series,ODI and Tests and also the Nzl ODI series without too many breaks...I think he was available for the most part of the South African tour too.

 

Both Starc and Hazelwood have been some of the fittest bowlers in recent times.

 

The others I can think of who have bowled without break down are credit where due Amir and Wahab who have been playing in all formats in pretty much every game.

 

India,Eng,Nzl and South Africa have all been rotating bowlers and keeping bowlers fresh for each format-

Well yeah, it does balances their tram plus gives them a bowler who will trouble top order batsmen more consistently. Starc too did but not as much.

You don't have to defend him. He has been brilliant. I rate Hazlewood higher in test doesn't mean Starc isn't great bowler for me.

 

Every fast bowler bowling at that speed  needs to be admired. It takes years of hard work to bowl that fast and injuries are part of every bowler and if you want to bowl tht fast like Brett Lee and Starc, you have to live with injuries as they will be part of your career. 

 

Starc is a class bowler, world class. Anyone would pay to watch such bowler.  I know he will struggle with injuries because he is just fal and outs lot of stress on his leg when bowling that fast, so it is natural. But no one can take away from him that he is one of our game's most exciting bowler.

 

He gives it all for the team and that is what you really need on the team roster at the end of the day.

I am only defending him about the statement that he is very injury prone...in recent times he has been playing every game.....I mean he could have easily skipped the Pak games after they sealed the series or the Nzl series that followed....Him and Hazelwood have been playing every game like fast bowlers used to in the olden days.

 

It is not like Steyn,Harris,Morkel etc who used to sit out when games were sealed etc.

Yes and hence I said even lee was injured a lot. Every top fast bowler will get injured a lot who puts so much effort and plays so many formats. Tall guys always will be more prone anyway.

Will probably recover in time for Champions Trophy, but the main game for Australia this year (after the current series) is the Ashes. They especially need him for that, as I believe he could do what Mitch Johnson did four years ago, and run right through England.
