I would trust him more than Dhawan as our back up opener in testing conditions. But hey thats just me.

and it will remain just you.

He is still a kid. Has a long way to go before he can replace Dhawan.

Definitely a talent to watch out for along with Priyank panchal

27 Average in Australia from 6 Innings

20 Average is England from 6 Innings

19 Average in South Africa from 4 Innings

In total 16 Innings and 1 fifty.

He probably can get better numbers than that even now.

Its in Final against Ishant an international bowler , Pankaj singh who have been a top domestic bowler, unadkat another one top domestic bowler trundler . This innings shud surely have weightage of gold and now he shud get chances in A-series as well . He ll only get better if he plays better opposition.

If he keeps this up, he will threaten Shreyas Iyer as the reigning 'it' boy of Bombay batsmen.   Good.   Iyer needs a bit of heat on his ass to turn his potential into performance.

Iyer is nothing special. And I have been consistent about it. Prithvi Shaw is the real deal. Kiddo's on right track.

Lol What? I have posted average of Great Dhawan in England/SA/OZ, 1 fifty in 16 Innings. He is walking wicket against decent bowlers in those conditions. He will likely replace Vijay who has done better than any opener in those conditions i have seen last 10 years of cricket. I am not suggesting that Prithvi to be included in team, just saying i would trust him more than Dhawan. There are atleast 5 openers than Dhawan in domestic set up.

You think Shaw can't  be our next "floater"  or "consolidator"?

Cabt happen as Rahane will get even more malnourished and Dhoni's ego will take another beating.

Can't even remember the last time a young player was given a debut and a decent run in the team.

Hardik Pandya says Hello.   Virat was very young when he started playing for India.  And Rohit Sharma was barely out of u19 when he played for India in the 1st T20 World Cup.  But why be "real"?  Much easier to throw around innuendo.

No one remember any other Indians who makes runs at tender age because that was in 2002 or before, now BCCI  doing same as England, Pakistan is only country in the past who support player from very young age.Mushtaq début before 16.(haneef's bro)

Parthiv in 2002 vs England when he was 17.Shivramakrishna,maninder,piyush Chawla, all 3 were 17 on test début.

Chetan Sharma at 18 vs Pakistan.PAKISTAN'S Javed Miandad scored 206 on début vs eng at 19.Umar Akmal 129 and 76 on début at 18 in Newzeland in test, yes.

Yasser Hameed not even 20, hits 170 and 105 on début --Chanceless  both innings

We should try this kid P:Shaw vs SL in our 70th independence year celebration

I just watched highlights.First thing i noticed i Ishant really sucks now,he has fallen off the map.Prithvi shaw is a natural strokemake and should be playing in A teams soon but he is a long way off from making an international debut for india,he is too loose outside off ,he should has been out a couple of times if the slips were placed properly.

So one young player in the last 10 years, you obviously don't set the bar very high.

Kohli and Sharma made their debuts in the previous decade so not exactly recent. Fact is Eng now give young players more of a chance than India - the Dhoni years being particularity regressive with preference given to recycling has-beens like RP Singh than nurturing new talent.

How old was Kuldeep when he made his debut?. How old was Bumrah? How old was KL Rahul on his test debut?.  How old was Axar Patel?

Hardik, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah, Rahul

Pandey and Axar being tried now too.

It must be said though that all these young players have added a lot of freshness, quality  and variety to our team .... and this experience lays down a case for 2 or 3 more new faces.

Krunal, Shankar, Iyer, Pant, Siraj and Aniket C .... need to be tried too.

Chahal is not that young 27, neither Shankar, Krunal, Aniket are that young. all 25 plus. Pandey is not young too. He is closing on 30.

All names you've said, can still have another 10 yeas career, if they are good enough. So by default, they are young enough.

Stop obsessing over kids to throw at the deep end over seasoned vets.

Suddenly you are over the hill at 27 :afraid:

where did i say over the hill. Can we only use two words young and old? 27 is not too young but not old too. Such player come in experienced players category, may not be at internal level but domestic experienced. For me, player only less than 25 will be in young category. After that, they are no spring chickens.

Ok

Even by that classification, Rahul, Bumrah, Kuldeep and Pandya have debuted and getting chances regularly while still young

Same happened with Shami and Bhuvi 4 years back.

Looks like only players with special talent are being played if 24 or less ..... the " just good " ones are told to gain experience.

Not a bad approach

But all pacers who look like international prospects should debut below 25..... preferably 21 to 23.

Lucky 100, saw at least 2 chances in the slips before he got to 100

That applies  to Kohlis, Dhawans, Rohits too in some innings.

But yea Shaw is good but need two years of A-tours and domestics, (and some intl T20 ODI perhaps if still a run machine when 19)

That's what I'm saying. He has the talent, and the luck too. Good tidings.

was the pitch a PATTA ..indian patta.

if the pitch is flat road then i would not blame ISHANT and Pankaj as i have played on patta's ..only way a batsman gets out is RUN OUT as strokes hit on this patta tracks are so fast that close in fielders even cant catch those hard hitting shots.

i blame the curators and organisers too..what was the score of other batsman, did they also score big runs..if so then the pitch was a PATTA.
