IPL and International Quality

Just watching India play recently. Especially against average sides in sub continent, you can clearly identify breed of players flattered by IPL but completely out of depth in international cricket. Manish Pandey seems to be one of those. His batting pose is enough to tell you that this guy will struggle against any level of quality bowling in non subcontinental conditions. We are producing few of those.

Kedar Jadhav reminds me of some of some of 90s and early 2000 players. Not the piss poor ones but the literally middle of the road ones who

Some how had a longer career than they should have by being in the right time at the right place- Badani, Dinesh Mongia,Sunil Joshi types who

had a spot and performed

once in a while but were still bang average.

Pandey is may be a little better.

No. Not really. The game result is irrelevant.

Pandey's batting style has nothing to do with IPL when he played India U19 WC, there was no IPL then. he has always batted like this and to think he already has a one day 100 in Australia which won us the only game of the series we won last time. So batting style has nothing to do with success.

Can't blame Pandey, he was up against some serious pace  and accuracy of Cummins and Nile, trying to score 12 rpo

experienced Dhoni and Jadhav couldn't get bat to ball vs Cummins,

Dont say anything bad about dhoni. It is blasphemy.

IPL prepares the players to play before big crowds and under pressure, even sharing the dressing room with greats will help our local players learn a thing or two. Moreover it gives an indication to the selectors about any new talent on the horizon. That's it. At the end of the day it is low quality cricket and even MI will be spanked hard by Toygers 9 times out of 10. There is no comparison w.r.t quality between the 2. IPL also isn't a finishing school for our cricketers. The finishing school still is Ranji, Duleep, Vijay Hazare, A tours etc.
