vvvslaxman
If not at the beginning should Indian batsmen stay outside the crease and take everything on the full or force him to bowl short? Once you allow him enough length to swing he can become lethal in helpful conditions. They have to disturb his rhythm. He reminds me of guys like Derek Pringle, Angus Fraser who would keep hitting the same length. Link to comment
BeautifulGame
To go after Philander you need 1) Technical ability and know where your off stump is and 2) Wide range of shots. None of our batsmen have both .So them going after Philander will only lead to their down.We don't have Sachin or Laxman in this team anymore for that. GoldenSun, adi B and prinzo 1 2 Link to comment
Cricketics
They should but we can’t ask Vijay nd Pujara to change their game. Rahul I am sure will go after him whenever he thinks the ball is lose and so will Kohli, but about Rahul, this is going to be his first time, that is if he is given chance, and its better we don’t expect much from him. May be thats when he might surprise us and deliver some runs whih we all are hoping for. Like I said earlier South Africa is the place with most dismissals taking place behind the wicket around at and around slip cordon region. We should be wary of that. Be Positive but not over aggressive. sandeep 1 Link to comment

speedheat
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo..... We don't have swagg of sehwagh to do it in this current team, last time I checked they tried to go after moeen Ali and gifted bucketful of wickets to the darter Link to comment
Khota
No. Need to settle down. Forget of the name of the bowler just go after delivery.it has to be one ball at a time. Dont think too much. Tattieboy 1 Link to comment

His record in SA is horrific.Only redeeming feature was his debut hundred. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Philander can always have the keeper up should you stay outside of the crease. I am not sure he would do with new ball. Batsmen have to find a way to throw him off his line and length. It is almost like he is always one ball away from snaring the batsman. I do not expect pitch to be flat given that how fragile our batting is against moving balls. Link to comment
Sandeep99
No.Tire him down. He's not young anymore. Calculated attack also will help. In 1st innings at Cape Town, Pandya's 3 boundaries in 1 over made Faf take him off.. Sgattick10 1 Link to comment

The Dark Horse
Man, this Philander is irritating. I wish someone takes him to the cleaners and disrupts his bowling Link to comment
zen
Philander would if we go after him without a sound strategy in place Link to comment
gattaca
The next pitch will not movement off the pitch. So he will be easier to play. But India needs to play Rabada and Morkel better. South Africa is preparing pitches according to their bowling strengths. Link to comment
Vk1
Like someone said not all should do that. Give that licence to two guys in the top 6. Link to comment
adi B
No ,it's easy to say but rather difficult to execute ,these guys don't have the technical perfection to dent attacks on seaming deck.its better to wear him out and try to score in the middle session Link to comment
