Huge Blow for KKR: Nagarkoti Ruled Out of IPL Due to Foot Injury

The Kolkata Knight Riders have received another blow in the 2018 IPL, with U-19 star Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s injury. Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna will replace Nagarkoti for the rest of the tournament.

KKR spent Rs 3.2 crore for the 19-year-old, but his foot injury has made KKR’s bowling even weaker. They first lost Australian pacer Mitchell Starc to tibial bone stress; even Mitchell Johnson was seen on the sidelines in their clash against Chennai Super Kings.

The injuries have served a huge loss to KKR’s bowling prowess – which was as it is unable hold a 202-runs target against CSK.

R Vinay Kumar gave 19 runs in 5 balls in the last over against CSK when they needed 17 to win the match, indicating their need to reinforce the bowling lineup.

But it appears as though the Kolkata team will have to hope for the 18-year-old Prasidh to put on a good show.

After the CSK defeat, Dinesh Karthik was confident that he has enough ammunition in terms of fast bowling talent. However, after Vinay Kumar’s run leak in the last over, he might not be as confident any more.

Over reaction much..

In history of all previous 10 IPLs, has there ever been a case when a teengage tearaway quick dominated the batsmen? Fact of the matter is - this is an experience man's tournament. At best, KKR's investment into Mavi, Nagarkoti and Gill was a play for 2019 and 2020. They were going to get restricted opportunities in this edition anyway.

And for those clamoring like crazy for more opportunities for young Indian quicks - Beware what you wish for.. Ishant Sharma was India's best fast bowler in 2009. He then duly proceeded to get destroyed by all and sundry during the 2009-2011 IPL editions and lost all his confidence and has never been the same again.

Just putting Nagarkot and Mavi out there is like asking them to jump off a cliff with a bargain price parachute.

Huge blow for Nagarkotti...not kkr.

Dk mein dum nahi newbies ko chance dene ka.

Yesterday Mavi got the invisible treatment.

Yes, but its not just DK. Whether its Indian team captain MSD, or Virat Kohli or whoever, they all like "experience" even if tried-tested-failures and rarely back young green('raw') bowlers (or batsmen). Just how Indian "captains" go about it.
