Manish should have been in place of Shreyas Iyer in ODIs.  Good job dropping Ajinkya and getting Rahul in ODIs. He now features in all teams and rightly so. Pant was raw in SL, he was dropped for Rahul eventually. He needs more time out of national team. Not sure of Shreyas Iyer being chosen over Pandey, Rahul in playing 11. If Rahul is only for opening, he will sit out more until Talunt/Moochad fails.

ODI Team vs England

 

Decent team ... helped by the fact that most players selected themselves.

 

--  Biggest weakness ...  there is no 6th bowling option unless Sundar bats in top 6  (  he is a batsman primarily, can hit big shots and can be used there )

 

--  Bringing back Rayudu in ODIs  based on a few IPL innings. This is a poor decision from a decision making point of view, even if Rayudu were to justify his selection later on.

 

--  Good to see Rahul back.

This team Looks SOLID. They could have considered KHALEEL/KHEJROLIYA/AVESH to consider grooming them and left arm quick can be a great asset in england.

Manish Pandey is not a T20 Expert , Yusuf pathan kinda GUY or sanju Samson or Some one else could have been better , manish has been average in T20. EVEN Chahal is not Ideal for T20 as he gets BIG time , i would pick jadeja in t20 ahead of him as chahal goes for a lot of runs and as far as wickets are considered , he does take wickets but not very outstanding.

why no young pacer in this team like avesh khan or khaleel or khejroliya or Mavi..this ireland team is a weak team , we dont need our best team against them.

good to see rohit out of this team and karun nair in...instead of shardul, i would have preferred some other pacer like avesh/khaleel/Saini.

There are much better bowler available than Chahar. I bet had he not been in CSK he would not be in india A squad irrespective of his recent good showing in domestic which I knew someone would point out.

 

Regarding Rayudu, I said IPL should not be sole criteria for ODI selection. Being a Chusky helps a lot too. He may do decent than MP but he is no future.

1.  Batsmen selection good.

 

2.  Navdeep Saini is a much better test prospect than Shardul.  This is a poor choice.

 

3. Chahal deserved to be the 4th spinner in the squad.

What is the use of domestic tournaments when failures like M pandey,Rayudu keep getting selected...they should shun the idea of staging  even a single domestic match..Rayudu and Pandey are there(in the squad) too make someone look a tad better as his own place in t20s is suspensive

not sure about kaul in ODI's....he has proved his point in IPL and he has improved his pace too..Hope So he remains 135+ in ODI's if he gets a chance.

No shami in odi..Kinda a Right decision as Shammi is definitely not among the best for ODI , he could not hold his place in DD T20 team, so he definitely not worth a position in indian ODI team , ODI and T20 are kinda similar teams.

manish in t20manish is not fit for being in indian t20 team..wrong selection.

Raina fir se... Raina is IPL TIGER , Raina is T20 Tiger...still his performance is OK.

 

What was the need to put ishant in afghan test let him play county,we already have 3 seamers + 3 spinner ( 1 test ke liye itni fauj)

i agree Ishant could have continued to be in UK and get more practice but still i think he should do well against afghanisthan.

The future for ODIs at least for now is just WC and not beyond that. 

So age is not a factor at all. 

 

After the WC, we should try the likes of Shaw, Gill etc. That is the long term future
