Norman
Amla bhai gone now. Bit by bit my teenage cricketing scene is going extinct. Anyways, an ATG for south Africa and one of the best at his peak. Should have retired before the world cup. But better late than never. Happy retirement. WC2011INDIA
Has more class than the chutiyas in Indian cricket who kept or keep dragging themselves for personal milestones/goals. Real McCoy 1 Link to comment
The Hound
Great test #3. Still remember that 2010 home series against SA where he batted like he would never get out. Link to comment
Turning_track
As a Saffer he has played so many gun innings in tests in Aus, Eng & India. Had difficult last few seasons but he is going out with his head high. Sad to see another member of that great SA side go which used to win so much home & away. Link to comment

There is no rational explanation for his failings in big tournaments or SA team in particular. He was a delight to watch & scored heavily since 2010. For me his legacy would always be those fine innings which he made it look so simple like triple hundred at the Oval, 253 n.o. at Nagpur, his century at Perth. Vijy
he was a decent person and a very fine test batsman. in ODIs, he was kohli-lite: scored heavily in bilaterals and bottled in crucial WC and CT matches. Link to comment
prinzo
One of the greatest in the world. He holds the odi record for quickest runs to 2000,3000,4000,5000.6000.7000 Im glad he is the first person to go past 300 in test innings in South Africa. South Africans keep on talking about Barry Richard's and graemme pollock as the best batsman South Africa has ever had. Amla is number 1 test batsmen with Kallis Link to comment
Real McCoy
Amla is certainly a SA great atleast in tests if not overall. Can't forget that series in India where it was impossible to get him out. He has scored runs in India, Aus and Eng the big 3 in all sorts of conditions. 253 in India and 311 in Eng his 100 in the decisive test in perth. Also comes across as a good guy unlike rat who goes mc bc everytime. Congrats on a great career Hashim Amla and good luck on your post retirement life Vijy, nevada and Vilander 3 Link to comment
Nikhil_cric
Class act, Hash . The guy had a monster peak in the 2010-2012 period. Performed superbly in India, England where he bullied clouderson and Barbie into submission and also Australia. His decline, unfortunately , was rapid in the last few years. A pale shadow of the player he was. Class guy off the field as well. :) nevada 1 Link to comment
