Gambit Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Easily Ganguly. Came against defending world champions in a do or die world cup game at a time when 300+ scores were rare. DDfan2017 and raki05 2

Would we have made it to the semis if we had beat Zimbabwe in the super six? Was only six when 99 WC happened.

Number Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Kohli's was against a raging chuckmal in a must-win-to-stay-in-tournament game while chasing 330. Little biased as I am quite fond of that match, two of our young guns battering our arch rivals. DDfan2017 1

Trichromatic Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Ganguly's inning wasn't even most dominating inning of the match. sscomp32 and Ankit_sharma03 2
BeautifulGame Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 The comparison becomes biased if many of the guys hv not watched the Dada's innings in 1999 WC.. I vote for Dada's 183 as it came in England, not on an Asian batting paradise. I agree the field was small, still given the pitch condition, the big stage of a World Cup game, against quality bowlers like Chaminda Vaas and Muralitharan, I will rate that innings higher than the other two.. The only think I would say is Ganguly was incredibly lucky during that game.He was repeatedly dropped by Lankans in that knock. Even the Dravid run out was after Murali had dropped a catch of Ganguly. But agree overall that was the best knock.Just the situation, pressure and the context of the game. Both Kohli's and Dhoni's came in meaningless games. Ankit_sharma03 1

That game was played at Tauntan, Somerset, one of the flattest pitch in the world and small ground. Being played in England does not matter in this case. Sl also didnt have bowling to suit those conditions. Murli wasn't the same Murli at that time without the Doosra which he developed later. Ankit_sharma03 and sscomp32 2

Gollum Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Dhoni's knock shouldn't even be on that list. Kohli's was awesome because it helped us humiliate Pakistan in front of a hostile Dhaka crowd in a must win match. Dada's was awesome because in that era(specifically that WC) such huge scores were unheard of. He did it in Taunton(overseas) and against the defending champs. Come to think of it, his knock was as good as Kohli's . Dhoni's 183 was one of the most inconsequential knocks in a forgettable series. That too on an Indian patta. Give me a break. Out of 10 I will grade them as: Kohli=9.5 Dada=9.5 Dhoni=6 The former 2 will be among top 10 ODI knocks by an Indian ever, Dhoni's 100 won't find a place in top 50 top 100. Exactly in many interviews even dravid has mentioned it was a flat deck and ball was coming so easily on bat. And then the small ground . kira and BCCI 1 1
