Chest beating is easier after a good performance ....but he has also resulted in some hair pulling by fans recently. Blind worship of dissing is bad.It should be based on performance.

Based on previous few seasons and yes the ipl. He was in my team and I had to tear some hair out .

I have no problems with people  waiting it out and coming with ' in your face ' threads in support of their favorite players. Just the ott - ness of the first post.

he looked good in the IPL.  the numbers weren't impressive, as they aren't for most players in t20, but he was timing the ball well and hitting boundaries pretty easily.

 

i'm okay with keeping veterans in the side as long as they maintain the required level of form & fitness.

 

that said, today's game doesn't mean anything. pakistan is a minnow, and their bowling attack is the weakest in the tournament. yuvraj has to do it against better teams to hold onto his place.

Goosy has a special spot in his heart for Yuvi.   Lot of us 'older' fans do.   And to be fair, the 'bash yuvi' brigade was quite vociferous and threw a lot of feces around here, minority it may have been.

Yuvi is a good player , has always been but regardless of how we rate Yuvi or how he performs , it's quite understandable to realize that his time is coming near - It's inevitable.    By next year Yuvi would likely be done - he wouldn't be around until 2019 WC so might as well start planning for that.   He is clutch and not many people are so definitely everyone needs to respect him for that.

Yuvraj played a blinder no doubt but I'm still a bit scared that these days he needs a sitter to be dropped before he gets going. Saw it in IPL where his most explosive innings came after drops. Better teams like SA, Eng, Aus or NZ won't afford us such luxuries. I hope Yuvraj has one last tourney in him and is able to take India to the title

It's a known knee jerk reaction, What do you expect? 

 

Kohli was struggling and not getting enough boundaries when Rohit got out, We had around 10 overs left. Everyone was expecting Pandya to come in and go bang bang. People were pissed at UV because he takes time to settle down and then he go for shots in past few years only. 

 

If it was Vintage UV, Everyone would have been happy with UV coming in before Pandya.

 

It was amazing how Kohli and UV accelerated later end.

Hardik Pandya at the end showed why we need guys like Pant and Iyer in the team. Granted UV played well today, but why do we assume that his replacement couldn't have done any better against the no 8 side on a patta yesterday? UV debuted at the age of 20 and in his 2nd game, played an ATG knock against the greatest ODI outfit of all time. Why should selectors deprive a Rishab Pant of a chance of debuting at a young age and doing something similar?

You do not debut players in big ICC tournaments. There time will come but yesterday was not one for them 

 

you say pandya but he has played quite a few games for india ( not ipl ) to help him reach a stage were could do what he did yesterday

Yuvraj and Zak debuted in 2000 ICC CT in Kenya. In their 2nd match they were up against Steve Waugh's invincibles, they did pretty well back then.
