Shai Hope- take a bow!

First player to score a century in both innings of a first class/test game in Headingly (127 year period). In a sizeable 4th innings chase, on one of the most difficult batting tracks in the world against a very good attack. Has good technique and temperament. Really hope he can help bring respect and dignity back to West Indies test cricket. Massive respect!!

Windies need to get back Darren Bravo at 3, replace Kieran Powell and get a couple of good quicks.   Then they will be good to go.

Shai Hope and Kraigg Brathwaite - reminiscent of Gordon Greenidge and Larry Gomes in England in 1984.

David Gower (Eng. skipper in 1984) must be sharing commiserations with Joe Root.

Hope and Brathwaite and Royston Chase are really good prospects for WI. Hope WI build upon these talents and also get a good bowling attack soon to continue competing with the big boys.

and blackwood as well.

Now that is called match winning performance. Showing up in both the innings much like Dravid did multiple times in his career. You cannot show up in one inning and go missing when a little bit of effort is needed in the 2nd innings.

didn't watch but if WI chased 322 that means, it wasn't the toughest of the batting track in 4th innings.

Some very good temperament and good defensive technique apart from good strokes. A really good innings under pressure. Bowling was good and pitch was not too easy also.

Its a very good comparison for Hope.his back foot play is similar and he throws the kitchen sink at his shots like Greenidge.

I am surprised to find out that Shai Hope is just 1 ODIs century behind Brian Lara.

Being doing well in Odis for last 2 years now, 18 tons , was criticized for his low sr but has imporved in that too.

And mostly plays vs a B/C level team which is also a big factor in high Avg.

Bhai, who takes white ball stats seriously these days? Even Babar Azam has caught up with Saeed Anwar and ahead of Inzi, Yousuf, Miandad etc. When Saeed Anwar made all those 100s back in the day it meant something because at one point (late 90s) it was a tight race between him, Sachin and Mark Waugh which we used to keep tabs of, all those 100s came against full strength sides and those matches would be taken seriously. In this T20 league era, anybody and everybody scores heavily against B, C, D sides in bilaterals which no one remembers the following day. I would place more importance on IPL stats tbh.
