Pritvi Shaw and Washington Sundar both have a lot in common.

Both Teenagers that has generated a lot of hype.Yet just playing their first Ranji season as regular .

Sundar is 18 and Shaw is a younger and just 17.

Also interestingly both are openers and can bowl off spin though obviously Sundar is much better bowler as of now.

Obviously Rahul looks pretty much set as our test opener for next decade (injuries permitting ) , bit both Dhawan and Vijay are in 30s so realistically we will be looking at next generation of opener to partner Rahul atworst in next home season (12-18 months).

So who do you thing will break into the test team first ?

Sundar wont break into team as opener but as LOI package he might soon.He just needs to get his fitness right

Kuldeep, sundar, Chahal, Krunal, Karn can be killer LOI spin bowling attack with all the variety possible

As test opener- shaw, pachal, prashant chopra are standing ahead of him infact ill add dhawan n parthiv patel to

Unless and until he he has 2 season of huge numbers runs as opener there is no chance.

As LOI u knw the line before him

As this point his best chance is to get in team as spin bowling all rounder and he can as ashwin failure in LOi as opened the slot for need of right arm off spinner .

Good he is opening for TN it ll help his batting only.......

Yeah but Panchal Parhiv(as opener) or Prashant Chopra arent gonna break into the team anytime soon though.Mukund is ahead of them in the pecking order and he hardly gets any games .

I was referring to 2-3 years down the line when both Shaw and Sundar will have had couple of seasons of Ranji season.

It is basically whether Shah or Sundar can have 2 seasons of high scoring Ranji seasons and break into the team when we will be needing to replace Vijay and Dhawan down the line.

There's a long line of batsmen waiting to get into Indian team.  And always will be.  Competition is even thicker for top order bats.

Sundar will be in the team a couple of years before Shaw.

Washington Not an opener, his captain & Coach  should not waste him there, because its not easy excess for test cricket.

Not easy to enter in Indian team if you are NOT SPECIALIST OPENER.

Washington Sunder is a specialist opener.

What are you even on about ?

P shaw as there's a surplus of spinning allrounders in India currently, Ashwin, jadeja, axar

vijay is ageing

kl Rahul is injury prone

dhawan not suitable for tests

therefore there seems to be a shorter pathway for shaw

I even wonder if there is merit in playing Sundar in the ODI XI along with Chahal and Kuldeep.

Pandya and Sundar can get 10 overs between them, and Sundar can be the No.6 / No. 7 bat...

But for a start, I'd like to see him break into the T20 side, where he has proved his mettle.. IPL may not be the best place to judge a player for the national side, but for T20s it does to a good extent

let me check first from  various resources, I think Sunder is number 6/7 player

yes last ranjitrophy season i just check his scores in last 5 matches as Opener highest score was 40 in 9 innings, only this year he looks to me star performer with both ball and ball  but belives me

now he not get chance NO WHERE
no test / No ODI

Ask shreyas Iyer how tuff to enter in one level higher

Sunder is a regular opener through out his career.
Last season he was reserve opener for TN and didn't play much .
