I believe Raul is ear marked to open in sa . If he does open then very sensible to rest him

This just proves the point that it doesn’t matter who the captain is, not all the players get picked depending on what a captain wants. Captain might have few preference in the team but most players get picked because of what coach amd selectors want.

Anyway SL series so dont care...but Shami is must in SA ODIs. He is our best ODI bowler and not playing him in CT was a mistake.

I agree. What is this rest thing with people who only play one format.. He was not playing odis/t20 any way.

Well he can't drop Vijay after his hundred in this game and can't drop Dhawan after his MOTS award in SL and 90+ in Kolkata. KL has failed in 2 out of 3 innings in this series. Ideal time for him to be dropped.

IPL is no base for judging captaincy. Internationals and ODIs require different approach.

Nope. Since Ganguly, the captain calls the shots. The playing 11 also reflects that every time.

Bhuvi should have been rested for the the ODIs. As expected Bumrah ignored in tests.

1. Siraj should have played this ODI series.  Unless the team saw enough chinks in the nets that he's better off working on those before his next comeback.
2. If Pandya is fit enough to play ODIs, he should play the 3rd test and rest the ODIs instead.  Why isn't this done.
3. Shreyas Iyer should get a proper run @ #3 in place of Kohli, but we know its not happening.
