Those pitches weren't this difficult. Bowling was ATG level, same has been case in this series too. SRT's performance was as good as this one.

Both are high quality performances, but there is nothing to suggest how that performance by SRT was clearly better. Kohli's performance is as good as any Indian batsman could do in these conditions.

SRT was clearly better in live Tests :winky:. Agree on the pitches although that is kinda balanced out by SRT getting a couple of rough decisions when he was well set (Adelaide and Sydney 1st innings).

And trent bridge on 91 and Perth 2007 when he was on 71 and uppercutting Lee and Tait.

No some did say puj is better overall , at the most both puj and kohli are at one level at home, kohli average 63 and pujara 62 at home not head and shoulders by any means, I do rate pujara at home but is a big no outside Asia perfectly fitting for a tag how track bully and kohli overall is better.

Ok cool. Not sure who they are but fine I will take your word.

Reg Asia - Even though they both average similar in Asia, there is a big difference on when they made those runs.

Yep. But at least we still ended up winning those Tests. Barbados in '97 was brutal though. He was in rampaging mode scoring 92 at a SR of 60+ when Bishop got him out off a gigantic no ball .

For me 2001 - 2007 was primetime for Sachin/Dravid too bad we did not have the current pace attack at that time..still won a few series overseas with Zak.

Not sure what zak did apart from England series. Even in SA we won one test because of sreesanth and came awfully close to winning the other test if it wasn't for Sachin and dravid. Even in the Eng series, RP Singh sort of bowled neck to neck with Zak so he wasn't really a standout.

Sreesanth yes but we did not win in SA. We won in England 2007 and almost in Aus if not for Sydney.

Right but don't think zak did anything in Australia wasn't he out of series after he got a fifer at mcg in the first test? We won at Perth cause of pathan and rp Singh.

definitely .... to score 286 runs @ 47.67 avg: against a bowling line up of Steyn,Philander,Rabada,Ngidi & Morkel  with 4 of them playing in each inns....those are the epitome of quality runs... can rival any series performace of SRT.But to out do SRT,  Kohli needs to perform like this for much much longer and also need to rectify his pathetic record in ENG.

beside the point, if Zak was crap that makes my argument stronger actually. if Ten+Dravid were playing now with the current pace group instead of Kohli+puj things could have been different.

I never doubted his ability as a bat, only his big ego comes into question for captaincy. He did make amends in the last test, swallowing his ego. Still hurt from the Kumble saga though.

Just like Sachin, raises the bar everytime so high, that his recent home series against Aus is being seen as a major failure.  Nobody can question his ability as a batsmen. He has performed all over the world, and now He will do it in Eng as well.

Sensational knock. Did not even get 50 but for me it’s his best ever test innings . Amazing genius , plus pure warrior courage and amazing belief .

He proved one thing . He ain’t fake aggression but backs it up

Still think his innings in the 2nd test has been his best knock of his career.
