You are being overly negative.   SA are about 30 runs short of putting any serious scoreboard pressure, and the track is benign enough to make this a cruise-control chase.

#4 spot is wide open for anyone's taking at the moment.  I don't think any one has cemented that spot and anyone can take it at the moment : Rahul, Iyer, Pandey, Rahane.  Pandey hasn't taken his opportunity and not done much in the last 15 ODIs. If someone plays a few impact innings at that number, then the spot is theirs IMO.  I'd reckon it's between Rahaul and Iyer...someone like Rahane seems like a backup. Rahane is ok when wickets fall early and you need to stabilize or consolidate but to take this spot, he'd need to show innings where he's able to accelerate towards the end as well and not have too many dot balls.

That is true for sure. But also SA batting is ridiculous against spin. They got manipulated left,right and center by our spinners today.

This would have fine under the old rules of ODIs.  A few years back the power-play rules changed, and now we have five fielders outside the ring in the last 10, and only 4 throughout the middle overs.  So your scoring momentum in the middle over becomes important, and especially more so, in the 30 to 40 over stage.   If you have a slow-poke coming to the crease in that crucial 10 over period, who needs "time to get going", then you are essentially giving up 20 odd runs in that phase.   That's a massive momentum swing in an ODI.  And 30 runs can be the difference between a chase with scoreboard pressure which results in a win, or a walk in the park.   

 

TL;DR - Its not good enough to have Rahane type batters at #4 anymore, and forget about old man Dhoni  - its the pivot on which your last 15 overs are launched.
