For all the Pant enthusiasts, this is exactly why he shouldn't have been inducted straight into Test cricket.. Doesn't seem to have the temperament to hold instincts back yet.. Agree one has to play their natural game, but not try to be a potential hero playing an IPL match every time.

 

Time to send Pant back to T20Is and get Dhoni out of there... and bring back Pant to longer formats over time

I think the shot was on. He just got it a bit wrong. Happens. he is a young kid. Better than what pandya did.

 

Pandya is a batting all rounder in subcontinent pitches and bowling all rounder in friendly pitches.

Heres my guess what will happen:

 

Since Ashwin's spot is on the line, he will score runs barring some ill luck or jaffa. 

 

But he is a choker when it comes to staying till the end. Can play a supporting role at best. Will get out a short while before the target. 

 

So Rahane must stay. Even if Ash gets out 30 runs to the target, we hav a chance. Other way round, we are done. 

 

Rahane may be choker in loi but has the pedigree in tests in these situations. He could see us through (if Ishant helps him). 

 

Rahane is the game set and match here.
