Too much dependency on Bumrah will burn him to the dust. Selectors have also not shown any vision. Jimmy Cliff and SK_IH 2
putrevus Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 team selection for this test has been spot on. They resisted playing Pandya.Rahul flopped but that was more fault of selectors not giving options to the captain. Real McCoy, flamy and AuxiliA 3

Again the question arises that if Pandya didn't have to be played, why did they send an SoS for him? It'd have been better for his growth as a player if he was playing Ranji trophy here. Same thing can be said for Bhuvi too. If team management thought he was not fully prepared for the series, they could have conveyed it to selectors and Bhuvi could have done so by playing Ranji. This way standard of Ranji could have improved too. What's the point of carrying players who won't play in the series? Did Captain and coach want to give them paid holidays? Shouldn’t selectors also need to be asked same question. Bhuvi I can understand unless they see green top they are not playing him.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They categorically said that they didn't include Bhuvi in the team because he had played just 1 FC match after coming back from injury. Means they were quite clear that he wasn't prepared enough and just 1 FC match could not have readied Bhuvi for the rigours of test. How would it have changed for Pandya? He too had played just 1 Ranji match after coming back from injury. So how could they have included him, thinking he was ready for test rigours? If they had thought that way, which I hope they hadn't, another erratic way of thinking and impletenting plans. Edited January 5, 2019 by Chandan

jf1gp_1 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) I watched a bit of post day analysis , clarke pointed out about field placements and plans which kohli implemented. fortunately they were not as simplistic as add or remove slip as suggested by some in this thread. Laaloo Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Has been excellent the last two test matches. Not much you can complain about. But I'm sure the OP Kohli hater will find some excuse to belittle so he can pimp up thaliava excellent test captaincy in Australia.
vvvslaxman Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Looks like Kohli has learnt a bit from Paine. Paine is not exactly strategy master. But he was consistently having these quirky fields from the first test. Kohli was always used to have some conventional fields. In this series especially in the later part he is doing more like what Paine was doing. Bowlers bowl the expected length. Captaincy is something you master over the years. He is learning whatever he could from anyone.
Forever Indian Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 This series has been his best amongst the SEA countries. Less no. of selection blunders and some strategic thinking finally being shown by Kohli. He should keep this going!
prasen82 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Great field placing for the rahane catch.. brilliant. And throtlling flow of runs in lunch session.. great mind games..bowling of jadeja and kuldeep was great.. And the commentary by warne was pretty top class.. what insights .. I think generalists like manjrekar, bhogle, shastri, sidhu should never ever be allowed again. Isa guha seems miles ahead of these guys.. I used to like bhogle but now his accent, the pauses seem so theatric and fake .. am in the only one who feels that way. I felt bad when bcci imposed a ban on him ages ago, but seeing him now, well.... Cricketics and vvvslaxman 1 1
GolGappe Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Was made to look worse than what he was in England and RSA due to wretched toss luck. Has looked pretty sharp on field in Australia because batsmen have given bowlers decent totals to work with and there wasn't any 4th innings pressure in 3 of 4 matches. There is no excuse for major selection blunders. That's just amateur level stuff. Cricketics 1

And that Jadeja injury fiasco/farce after the 1st test? Captain saying they did not consider spin at any stage, even after the match, while coach saying that Jadeja was not selected because he was not fully fit. What a big lie it was, we all saw that, as Jadeja fielded thoughout the test from deep, from close-in from everywhere and kept bowling in nets. Plenty of articles regarding this.
