Well....

Just 45 runs and thread is created....Yes!!

45 runs in testing conditions. Every run should be measured with gold.

All the top 5 batsmen looks totally at sea on this bowling pitch. He is the only batsmen who looked assured and played some good shots with the moving ball.

Even Rayudu played and missed many balls and only lucky to survive.

His bowling will come handy.

WC berth will be hard but he should be in ODI scheme of things post world cup.

No wonder Rahul Dravid has a high regard for this guy.

He should not be seen as a allrounder but a part time bowler.( Just like Jadhav)

He is a decent prospect as a batsman. His bowling is horse crap. He also seems to be someone who will get into many runouts just like biryani. If he fails with the ball he has zero utility.

He can still make the WC squad...

He is Jadhav's backup.. With Jadhav's injury history, Shankar in the squad makes a lot of sense.

He needs to follow this up with a few more good knocks against Aus and have a good IPL.

Needs to work on upper body strength . Have you seen throws from out field all looped up. I agree an all rounder is rarity in Indian cricket . But he should be part of international setup so he can hone his skills and physique .

He is not an all-rounder. He is not even a good part time bowler like Kedar. So he cannot be like for like backup for kedar.

That the TM sent him ahead of Jadhav and Pandya, it means TM rate his technique better than others. I see lots of people question his utility and even his batting and I think that's unfair.

He is a proper batsman who can be a really good addition.

use him as 6th bowler

he is good on slow wkts and wud be effective when it seams around some days . Best is not to look him as batsman who can bowl

Shankar was more of an allrounder than Kedar ever was at the domestic level even though Shankar himself is a proper batsman who can bowl a bit may be in the league of Ganguly and Greg Blewett.  Kedar is more of a manufactured allrounder. So it makes it apples to apples. The fact that management had more faith in Shankar than Jadhav who has stellar domestic stats doesn’t look well either.

Your dislike for kedar continues.

Look I don't say kedar is an all-rounder either. He is a much better bowler than Shankar. He has picked wickets at crucial juncture many times. Doesn't matter if he was a good bowler in domestics if he is actually a good part time bowler in Internationals. Shankar just rolls his arms over. No skills no brain. Runs in and bowls. Garbage at International level. Sorry....

His bowling surely needs improvement, but he's been fairly accurate in the limited opportunities he got against Aus.. He can chip in with 4-5 overs...   his primary skill anyway is batting...

Also, today, he has replaced Khaleel.. So, TM is looking to give him confidence to build his bowling skills.. maybe they are considering him to be the fourth pacer (?) in the squad

People make too much our of one bad innings where he struggled in that t20s. If we forget his bowling and forget comparing him with Pandya as all rounder, Shabkar is actually a decent LOI bat.

If given proper chance, which most likely will be after world cup, I think he can cement his place as a batsman.

He can bat well. Just don’t look him as an all rounder and see him as pure middle order bat.

Yes he is a garbage bowler from what I have seen and yes Jadhav has got some wickets but still the point being is that they both are batsmen who can bowl and at best you should not go in expecting more than 3-4 overs from them. If they are bowling more than that either team is having a bad day or they are having an odd very good day. The point was about Shankar being back up to Jadhav and they both seem to be the same category in my eyes.
