zen
Squad of 15 based on some undroppable players and my preferred players Shaw / Agarwal (for relatively quick starts) Dhawan Kohli Rohit Pandya Jadhav Dhoni / Pant Kuldeep Bhuvi / Chahal Shami Bumrah The 14 above include additional batsman, batsman/WK, and a bowler (pace/spin) 15th: Shankar (if he can bowl decently vs Aus when it visits Ind) or a back up quick bowler (can be some making his debut) Link to comment
cowboysfan
I would Take Dk easily,he is a better keeper and is a better clean hitter who can find gaps and not blindly swing for the fences every ball. The Dark Horse, Laaloo and Norman 2 1 Link to comment
Tendulkar1996
Pant.He is left handed.DK is **** as long as he is not chasing and only a t20 player atm. Link to comment

Shankar ahead of Jadeja and Krunal as the third all rounder (albeit being a batsman who can give you a few overs) 4. None. Pant can be the back up opener if required. Else he can give you the middle order/keeper option 5. None. We'll go with three bowlers Likely squad : Starting XI : Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, Rayudu, Dhoni, Jadhav, Hardik, Kuldeep, Chahal, Shami, Bumrah Reserve : Bhuvi, DK, Pant, Shankar If the selectors think this is one batsman too many, Pant/Shankar might lose out for Jadeja/Khaleel. Other than that, this looks like our final squad barring any injuries. This XI has a looong tail. Link to comment

ShoonyaSifar
Pant will be sidelined for being not ready yet. He needed a big knock in one of the T20s. The selectors and TM very shrewdly dropped him from ODIs to kill the momentum he had built during the tests. philcric 1 Link to comment
WeStMiDz
DK is honestly hitting it so clean right now. Has a more consistent 360 game than Pant at present. However I would like both in my squad. Link to comment
nitinbwj
Had Pant gone on to score a few more and win the game for India, it would have sealed his place in the squad. Not now. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Pant should have been given a longer rope to prove himself in the one day set up. This is too short a period. Having said that i don't expect Dhoni to be out. He will play all the matches. He knows how to stay "injury free" lol With what he does he is never going to get injured. Norman 1 Link to comment

Nikhil_cric
MSK prasad and his bunch of merry men lol. This is getting ridiculous now. If it was dk Vs pant, why didn't you give pant enough chances? How does it all hinge on this one Australian series ? The only thing this has done is it has protected dhoni for good. Also 4th seamer spot should be shardul Vs kaul Vs umesh Vs Ishant. Ishant won't be any worse than the likes of kaul and shardul and considering his height and bowling form in tests, why is he not even being considered? Ankit_sharma03 and philcric 2 Link to comment
Deleted_User_1
Pant’s batting is one dimensional still, but to better to groom him as Jharkhandi hopefully will retire after WC. Link to comment

If you look at it, for the last 15-18 months, in LOIs the entire focus of TM and selectors has been on somehow ensuring Dhoni gets to play the 2019 WC. Middle order was messed up so that Dhoni could bat 4/5, no young player had a settled place in the side, everyone had to be flexible to accommodate Dhoni’s best interests. Has been a cringeworthy surrender before a past by it legend. Laaloo and philcric 2 Link to comment
Sooda
Jadeja, Umesh, Kaul, Khaleel, are all battling for one spot. Do we need a 4th seamer or 3rd spinner/ 2nd all rounder I'd like to think Krunal would go, but unfortunately it's not happening Sirajand Khaleel have been disappointing, Umesh is one with experience and did well last WC why not give him ODI series, why play T20 where he is even worse than ODIs? Kaul and Umesh should have swapped spots in the squads. Link to comment

They thought DK would suck balls like he has before...so that he doesn't overshadow thala, but he didn't. Now DK is out of the equation as has showed his usefulness. If Pant would have played regularly he would have forced Dhoni out of the squad. He has only a few ODIs left, so can't do much now. Dhoni Link to comment
