voteshare of UPA on average is 30% NDa 42% these are the numbers which are key. The way I see it, if NDA touch 42% pan India they will form gov with easy. Its as simple as that.

issues with opinion and exit polls is seat conversion. Voteshare probably the metric we need to be looking at

@cowboysfan

Axis gave those numbers 60-68 to BJP on the back of a 48% vote share. If BJP do indeed get that voteshare in UP then that is a realistic figure. We have a first past the post system. Somebody gets 51% in a seat or somebody gets 99% in a seat. It still counts as 1 seat won.

Coupta says Upper caste vote has been consolidated. Wah! He can't get rid of his Bania fixation

https://theprint.in/opinion/4-reasons-why-modi-remains-in-the-hunt-for-a-second-term/237190/

"

1) A formidable new vote-bank: A new, pan-national caste-based vote-bank has risen. It consists of the upper castes. Since 1989, these had leaned increasingly towards the BJP, but there were always divisions. Some Brahmins continued voting for the Congress for nostalgic reasons. Individual Thakur leaders swung some vote in the heartland, especially Uttar Pradesh. The Jana Sangh/BJP always attracted the upper castes, but the only caste really committed to them were the Banias. That’s why Indira Gandhi always called them a “Bania party”, never a Hindu party.

Now all upper castes have consolidated behind Modi. They see in Modi’s BJP a force not just for Hindutva, but for what they see as “merit”, which they fear the minorities and the “less meritorious” lower castes will take away because of their voting power.

This new vote bank is as cohesive as, say, the Muslims when it comes to voting against the BJP. In so much travel through these three months, I rarely found an upper caste voter who wasn’t with the BJP. This helps Modi counter Muslims and other castes like Yadavs who usually align with them. The last caste census was in 1931, but at anything between 22-25 per cent, upper castes form the largest single vote bank in India, bigger than Muslims, Dalits or any cohesive OBC group."

I m really hating all the EVM conspiracy theories i see spouted by Mamta and others, you need faith in the EC which is a independent body.

BJP feels like left wing in India now. Making sensible statements whereas congress and all parties are bitter and floating conspiracy theories like RW in west.

I can objectively call out any party if they are behaving like idiots.

The problem is that most of these pseudos always behave like idiots,no touch with ground realities at all.

There has been a spurt of anti-Modi articles on BBC,NYT,WaPo and other papers today.Almost all of them have Modi's name prefaced by the words "divisive" or "extreme right-wing".

I think its time to tell these rags not to interfere in India's affairs.

I have been involved in election duty (as assistant presiding officer) and am currently involved in counting duty (counting assistant). The system is fool proof, provisions of polling agents , vvpat machines, mock polls etc. rules out tempering concerns. But Opposition says otherwise maybe to keep their own vote bank agitated. Beyond a point, raising this bogus issue may backfire and it becomes quite irritating to hear...more so, from the pov of 42% the Junta who know they voted for NDA and now opposition saying NDA wins because of evm.

FYI, every polling station undergoes mock poll on polling day from6am to 7 am in presence of polling agents where they press voting button a few times for all candidates and then match results on both the EVM as well as the vvpat machine. Like if we cast 5 votes for BJP , 4 for AAP , 6 for Congress in the mock poll, then both the EVM as well as the vvpat machine should give the exact same result (5 votes for BJP , 4 for AAP , 6 for Congress).

Hence, he can speak freely now. Founder, @editorji - a platform for personalised video news. We hope to reshape the way you view news and information. Left NDTV in 2016 to set this up.

I always felt that Vikram Chandra was never really comfortable in NDTV ecosystem. He can be described as closest to centrist in that gang, and he would never take the anti-national line in our security matters. Even his debates about BJP, Modi, Shah, institutions etc you will find them conducted in a far more transparent and relaxed manner as opposed to Sonia, Barkha (former), Nidhi, Sreenivasan, Gargi, Sunethra, Sarah etc who would generally be rude, biased and always pushing their warped agenda.

This nonsense can't carry on, these cockroaches are attacking a vital pillar of our democracy to cover the ineptness of the opposition. If EVMs really were being manipulated why didn't BJP use them to win WB, Pun, Kar, MP, Chh, Raj?

About time someone presses charges on these anti-national elements.

Pranab Mukherjee hails Election Commission, says Lok Sabha polls 2019 were conducted 'perfectly'

Opposition/libtards/pidis/peacefuls....sab ke sab gaddaron, muh me lo.

Pranab was a Congress stalwart (unfairly denied PM post), Indian President, Bharat Ratna since last year.....he is 85 years old and has been in politics for 65 of those years. He knows political decency, democratic spirit and sportsmanship, unlike these modern day Congressi pests.

Judging by the way peacefuls are behaving on social media, I won't shed any tear if our govt takes a hardline stance against their qaum. Attitude adjustment is necessary, be it with bratty children or desert prophet followers. Bloody termites, any legit criticism about them is Islamophobia but 24x7, every year they spew their venom about other religions, communities, Gods etc and that is apparently halal.
