Shreyas Iyer: "I am just waiting for my chance."

he cannot even handle NZ A bowlers properly. once they discovered bouncer barrage against him, he has done poorly. he may have an outside chance in T20s but not ODIs.

They said the same thing about Shreyas Iyer but he has played some good knocks. Suryakumar Yadav should be tried in LOIs. If he fails, he fails. But you won't know without trying.

The last ODI against Aussies and this T20 win due to Iyer taking pressure and dong finishers role successfully, will also releive Kohli the batsman as he now knows there is someone who can take team to victories even if he is out. Kohli can also play more freely given how things are turning out in last few matches. Even the batsmen coming after Iyer know that they have a match-winner at other end. It just boosts the confidence and morale within the batting lineup.

Add one more innings by Iyer which played significant role in win. 3 quality knocks in two weeks time.

We did not lose the match because of Iyer. Iyer can definitely improve further in terms of SR but he did well given the situation he came to bat today when the ball was doing a bit.

We did not select our best bowling line-up because the team management have a misplaced faith in Thakur's ability. Thakur may work in T20 at times but in an ODI teams will work him out over the course of 50 overs and target him as per convenience. Add to this we overall had an ordinary performance by Bumrah and Shami and woeful performance by Kuldeep, all three our main strike bowlers kind of put us into backseat. And let's also give some credit to NZ who played without their Frontline bowlers and Williamson and still beat India. We got beaten by NZ A team today to be honest.

I like how this guy plays alright, but he certainly fancies himself and isn't shy about it:

That attitude sounds good when you're in form, when you're not, well.....

Pandya struggled more than Iyer did.

pandya won you a T20 series in Australia.

Iyer even on his best day wont do that.

Iyer/pandey are players suited primarily to ODI.

Iyer would never play for this england t20 side, niether should he for India.

Sky deserves it more and he has already proven it,its a travesty iyer is playing above someone like Sky in our t20 setup.

Iyer scored 88 off 38 against Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Nagarkoti etc. He absolutely can win series on his best days.

On a midget Sharjah ground Where random hitters were smoking it.  As soon as Big grounds came he was sucked

Not saying he is poor but Kolli & Iyer both in same team is too much.  If you add Dhawan then its worse.

In a span of last 1 year, Shreyas has played these T20s knocks for India:-

1. 58 off 29 balls vs NZ in NZ( MOM)

2. Match winning 12*(5) vs Aus in Aus

3. 67(47) vs ENG yesterday

That is three really top bowling sides. None of them are Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh type teams at whom the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Vijay Shankar, Babar Azam, Kedhar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu feast on.
