His two wickets against Afghanistan and 2 against Pak were as crucial as any other bowler. He brought us back in the game twice against Afghanistan by breaking partnerships twice.

Hardik Pandya's bowling gives no confidence and probably a poor version of Robin Singh. So how can we accomodate all our top 5 bowlers in the playing XI? Maybe try this team against WI and Eng: Rohit Rahul Kohli Pant Dhoni Pandya Bhuvi Kuldeep Chahal Shami Bumrah Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk I love this idea! So many advantages of having a line up like this. 1. We get rid of the deadbeats VJ and Jadhav 2. Explosive power in the middle order with Pant. 3. We strengthen our bowling with 5 full time bowlers and Hardik as just a back up for a couple of overs if needed. 4. Bhuvi can probably bat as many number of deliveries and score the same number of runs as VJ. Austin 3:!6 1
Mariyam Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Oh my. Going by the title I thought this thread was about (the very Bengali) @Muloghonto talking about (VVS) Laxman.

express bowling Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Weakening the 7th batting spot is not a practical solution. Especially because we have the unproven Shankar at 4 and Dhoni at 5.

If you have two world class spinners, they should be playing every single time especially when those two have been our real match winners in the middle overs across all conditions.

Here pitches have been dry and slow because curators did not get the time to prepare due to persistent rain and the drainage system in England grounds that drains all the moisture out. Look at Afghan game, there we missed an extra seamer. If we had that, the game would not have gone that close as spinners looked innocuous in that game. You need all bases covered.

You don't need turning pitches to play two world class wrist spinners, a luxury no other team has ever had. See how the two spinners have done in last 2 years away from India, compare them to the pacers performance and you'll have your answer. Do the same for the performances in England, you'll have a similar answer.

Lucky to get spin friendly tracks in SA as well. Compare that to pitches in 2017 CT. Those were flat pitches with little help for spinners. These are not.

On the other hand, you risk dropping either of the two wristy who undoubtedly have been the reason for success of India since CT. Let's talk of future afterwards. Now it makes no sense.

It's one thing to play a gritty innings when people don't expect runs from you and another thing to play as an all-rounder. If we go with bhuvi dropping a proper batsmen we will weaken our already shitty batting order except Rohit and Kohli. Edited June 27, 2019 by Pollack express bowling, Nikola and Frustrated 3
Texan Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 One out of Bhuvi and Shami is sufficient. Having this choice is great. We should not tamper with the combination. Reducing number of batsmen means doom. Frustrated 1
Frustrated Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 How can we accommodate BBS (Bhuvi-Bumrah-Shami) in the playing XI? Ans. We dont need to. It is that simple.
Insidious Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 There is no need to. However, absence of dhawan have destroyed our balance in batting. What a loss.
