Rishabh Pant is too hackish to succeed consistently at this level.

Recommended Posts

He had a good series, performed in 2 out of 3 games. People should not have unrealistic expectations, he is work in progress and not that earth shattering a talent as many think he is. He is finding a way to be successful in middle order. He has to keep evolving and learn from his mistakes. He threw away his wicket in 1st game when he was set. He must have seen Pollard today, how he remained till the end and created havoc. Pant also has to learn the smartness from people around him. In the upcoming series' it would great if he and Iyer come across more challenges like today.

Secondly, his keeping was not up to the mark this series, he needs improvement in that aspect.

I supported this guy but he is looking more and more like a hack than proper batsman.Compare it with Pooran who has not played that many matches himself .Pooran looks like class batsman. You can give chances but players have to earn them too.Pant has not earned more matches.

Kohli got out to the same ball with same shot so is he a hack too? I will repeat this again where other countries wrap their young talent in cotton wool and protect them, india has vultures who keep targeting youngsters

No they don't wrap anyone in cotton wool anymore than what India is doing with Pant.Pant has been given longer rope in odis and t20s. Anyone who is not seeing his lack of ability to play all around the wicket is blind.Pointing out weaknesses is not targetting.Guy like Kohli had endure all the criticism even after establishing himself all over the world after England 2014 failures.

Aussies sat down guys like Starc and Pattinson. They kicked out promising  youngster like Renshaw based on domestic form while we have kept on giving chances to youngsters like Rahul and Pant.

Like many youngsters coming up Pant has to evolve too.He is still getting chances in both shorter formats.

Another thing to note is how the opposition is bowling to him. That shows his weaknesses. Good length balls outside off with the right hand bowler creating an angle. Also the field placements was perfect in the last match. Fielders crowded in the inner circle from point and behind the wicket to prevent the cut shot and any single attempts with short cover. They also had deep fine leg for the reverse sweep and fielders deep on the on side. All credit goes to Pollard and his team management :hatsoff: Pant knows what they are doing and still not able to get away. He was trying to lift the ball over the cover fielders. He got a boundary and perished the next time he played the shot. He has to learn how to fix his weaknesses. Also when he is trying to figure out how to beat that cover fielder, the bowler may pull a fast one straight on the stumps to get him bowled. He was out once like that

No one is saying not to give him chances but he also has to use those chances too.Why is he always in such a rush, his first aim is play 25 balls in odis .That composure comes naturally for some players like Dhoni and for some it take years. What is still unknown is his ability to rotate strike.

All his knocks in IPL came as an opener.Scoring in IPL as an opener is lot easier than scoring in middle order in odis.Is he more suited for an opening role ?These are unknown things about him and he is not helping his cause by getting out early.

he has just batted 4 times in opening in IPL

he has played 41 out of 54 innings in IPL at 4 n 5......infact he has made a 100 at no.4 in IPL which is very tough and he destroyed a very good attack of SRH then

there are stages in international players career

  1. When ur new
  2. then opp sought u out - which is where pant is and even kuldeep
  3. then u come up with a plan to counter it- which is what they both will have to do and they will with time

Nothing new has happened to everyone, it will only make them better player. Right now if someone like mayank is doing well his 2nd stage will also come

When he did he open in IPL? Delhi openers are Shaw and overseas openers.
