Coaches of various teams and their contributions

So far it seems the English and aussie coaches have made most tactically sound decisions

- English coach in the game against india by dropping a spinner

- aussie coach by making proactive changes - Lyon for Bollywood , behrendorf etc

- bevda also seems to be trying things especially liked the fact that he promoted rahul and tried bhuvi and jaddu against Lanka .

Worst coaches -

think pak coach was most stupid . Everytime he is on tv he is animated like a cartoon . I wouldn’t be surprised if pak replace him with a home grown cartoon like miandad

second worse was perhaps West Indies coach - but he also was cursed with t20 rockstars who are odi duds

third worse was perhaps the South African coach - benched Amal in last match and result was there to show

Pakistan can do well with having someone like Wasim Akram oversee a local Pakistani coach for the team. I have a feeling all that the Pakistani coach needs is money. He really hasnt understood the Pakistani culture, his approach to players.

While India can do 3 times better if they APPOINT A COACH, instead of an alcoholic low life.

He has been doing his nautanki ever since he joined Pakistan as a coach .

Pakistani players make more money than coaching Pakistan . Shoaib Akhtar was saying this in one of this YouTube shows . People don't want to hear this, but if they want some top players to be their coach then they will have to compensate for the loss, they might incur due to leaving other commitments .Pak board is not ready to do this .

Pak coach me Mickey Arthur said that head to head record should be considered instead of NRR..the tournament rules are same for everyone and a coach cannot ignore that during his planning

Mickey Arthur is extremely lucky , padosis could have easily murdered him and blamed it as suicide

one stupid comment in otherwise a good discussion thread.

No former pakistani player is stupid enough to take that on even if they get more money

Mickey is a fine coach but he has to work with two people with borderline IQ, Inzimam and Sarfraz. Inzimam should not be there but reportedly he was poking his nose in every matter in team selection even during the world cup.

Don't think Wasim wants to do full time coaching job and he is already a part of their cricketing panel with Misbah. He is more or less content with being mentor of the franchise in t20 leagues.

Fully agree with you about having an actual cricketing coach than a drunk and cheerleader.

The way indian setup is - captain and selectors have all power . Coach is a mentor cum administrator cum spy I feel

looking at say a john wright or shastri- our teams are a captain driven show with coach at backseat

cheerleader is one of most interesting fellows . At his prime he was a good left arm slow spin bowler . He developed his batting to do tuktuk at the highest level and survived in the medicocrity we were in the late 80s

post retirement he took up commentary art and he is highly diplomatic in that - won’t find him making comments like manju does

as coach , kumble tried to do right but did not understand how the power structure is . Bevda doesn’t do much , supports kohli in all wrong decisions and makes amazing money . From a management standpoint he is an important lesson for anybody in any field - chapel however u hate him , his ideas were correct . He tried to do things the Australian way - never heard an Australian cricketer who didn’t retire while doing well ( think gilchrist - retired after dropping one catch ) . If chapel was arnd,Sachin would have been made to retire two years earlier .

mediocrity trumps talent when high EQ is associated with mediocrity

next indian coach is likely along the same lines - don’t have high hopes . Have high hopes of the system which is a minefield if talent  . Most countries would only dream of having Jadeja agarwal ishant chahar krishna gill shaw etc as backups . This feeder system has created a strong competition. You don’t need strong coaches for this - you need chanakya . Shastri is the modern day chanakya but for himself - wish he was motivated to do nation building

our peak years are coming when dravid will will be chief coach - got all the shastri ingredients of management but was supreme talent and Mgt guru

Coaching Pakistan where it is like a game of thrones situation every day  where people are grouping, back stabbing and conspiring against each other must be one hell of a job.

In all that craziness I think Arthur did ok. They won the CT. Not does it need any reminding because it seems to be the most significant day in Pak history after Aug-1947. Got them to no.1 in T20I a format no other team play their frontline X1. Improved their odi rankings. They were almost on the verge of playing qualifiers before he took over. Yes he sucked in tests. But I think Pak fielding and fitness has improved a lot. It might look like a joke but that was how pathetic they were before he took over.

I would say Arthur has done more than the freeloader Shastri who despite having a world beating side fumbled it up in Eng and SA

Agree about shastri

pak cricket like pak is an enigma

fertile land with vast resources yet doing poorly on all parameters

talented cricketers , sporty genes yet completely inconsistent

but micky  ju is a joker imo - all his selections are retroactive . Pak is world no 1 in t20 as they concentrate most on it - most of us and boards care a damn about it but congrats to pak on that

pak used to defeat England in England regularly . But Sri Lanka managed to win in SA and india in Australia in tests - pakistan barely manages to survive in uae . It’s regressing and don’t see them doing well for next decade .

Why is Shastri getting so much abuse, he took over after CT2017 collpase and has done very well. He changed face of Indian bowling by bringing in Chahal and Kuldeep.
