Will manhoos (bad luck) Kohli cost India an ICC title again?

I think India really need to find a better conversion ratio of titles won to appearances in the business end of the tournament

Since our last major ICC trophy in 2013 (Champions Trophy)

2014 T20 World cup Finals loss

2015 World Cup Semis loss

2016 T20 World cup Semis loss

2017 Champions Trophy Finals loss

No other team has been this consistent as India in ICC tournaments in a 5 year period. We won 3 trophies in a period ranging from 2007 to 2013. While that might be considered a golden run or purple patch we really needed atleast 1 win in the last 5 years. Shades of Ganguly and co in finals, but he had an excuse of an all star Aussie team. Kohli's teams have dominated tournaments. Even this one we have finished on top in the group stage. In 2014 and 2017 we were the best team in the tournament. 2015 and 2016 one can argue that there were better teams out there given Aus and NZ were in different groups. While in 2016 that WI team was IMO a shade above the rest.

The reasons for our losses have been multiple from bad luck (losing key tosses in 2015, 2016) To bad tactics (includes selection) In 2014 Yuvraj singh was carried throughout the tournament and basically handed the final to SL on a plate even though Kohli was firing. 2017 Kohli had this obsession of winning the toss and chasing no matter what. I do hope he has learnt from his mistake and realised that finals are high pressure situations in which runs on the board is an asset. Lords and Old trafford is a fresh pitch.

So the question is such for India. Will they lose a key toss or will their tactics cost them. MSD might easily be the Yuvraj singh of 2014. Kohli might yet lose key tosses or made the wrong decision.

The summation from my post is that I do get a manhoos or panauti vibe from Kohli. Look at his IPL record with RCB. He has won the under 19 WC. But I am super worried about this aspect.

Thala will be the only one that could single-handedly cost us a KO game.

His bhakts still think Dhoni put on a Chanakya like disguise and became Slowni in the league games to lull the opposition to think that his days as the premier chaser were long done.

Luck will not be a major factor.

Luck was never major factor. It was TM decisions albeit indecision to change the team for that many years and assess the conditions.

Saying that, I have complete faith that current team is right at the top, if not best Indian XI. So we shouldn't suck even if we loose.

Yes and I agree. This is close to the best and no shame in losing.

But, I hope Manhoosiat doesn't start playing tricks like injury one of our key pacers (Bhumrah and Bhuvi) in the middle of match or top 3 bats

Injuries are part of game. Great teams will find a way around it.

"Great Team" right. Current Indian team is not Great Team. Its a very good team. I dont see our team having chance in case Bhumrah gets injured. I was so effin scared where Bhumrah walked out against Bongs.

I just hope that the two pacers (bhuvi and Bhumrah) they survive and our top 3 bats and Kulcha do most of griding in semis and win it for us.

If we win, I bet, Bumrahand Bhuvi will bowl at same pace even on crutches

Yes! Panauti captain under panauti Govt (NDA). We are yet to win a single ICC final when NDA has been in power. All our major LOI wins (1983 WC, 1985 World Championship, 2007 WT20, 2011 WC, CT 2013) have come under secular Kangress Govts. We are so doomed :((

we won champions trophy in 2002 under NDA gov.

Kohli has been manhoos for RCB in with UPA and NDA

We will choke either in semi or final.

Kohli won't win wc in his captaincy.

Make Dhoni/Rohit captain for semi and final then India will win wc .

I don't think it's about luck. It is about the fact that we have acquired a worrying tendency to either not play to full potential (or choke) or implement crazy decisions (2017 CT).

We have already had the worst luck this tournament, losing Dhawan so early. Hopefully it evens out and we win the next two tosses at least
