Deleted_User_1 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 India should get the title of choker saali from SA. This is worse than losing to Pak. Bewrat should hang head in shame! Adi BB, sandeep and coffee_rules 2 1

But you got to accept the fact that today's Dhoni is what he is - with his drastically reduced hitting capacity, with his "take it deep" mindset. Don't have to agree with it, but just recognize it for the reality that it is. What I don't accept, is the choice by team captain and coach to hold him back. Its not Dhoni's job to decide that, even if he prefers it that way. Its the leadership that decides the right tool for the right job, and the right batsman at the right time. And I agree with you that "refusing singles" was a bad gamble - a much worse one, than the risky double that saw him run out. But, my perspective on it, takes into account the entirety of Dhoni's career. not just the last 2-3 years. 30 'bad' ODIs don't wipe out the 300 great ones. When he was the trailblazer that was instrumental in changing Indian ODI batting mindset from habitual chokers to habitual successful chasers. Those 30 bad matches included 2 WC’s and a few WT20s

Would have been great. But the truth as we all knew was that our top-order of Dhawan/KLR, Rohitman and Rat were papering over the thin middle order, and this is just what happened today. Dhoni has to go - if he's around in the next WC, he will be 42 and even more diminished than today.

We have all suffered the consequences of Dhoni's bad decisions in multiple tournaments. My first ever chance to watch India play cricket in WT20, was ruined by Dhoni's decision to bowl spinners into the wind against Australian batsmen. Even blatant mishits by Watson floated over the boundary. I can still see th next WT20 self-inflicted loss when we had peak Yuvraj, and peak Yusuf at our disposal, and Dhoni chose to send in Jadeja who couldn't hit the ball off the square. And many others. And so many with the bat, over the last 2 years, where he has been a shadow of the great ODI bat he once was. It is what it is. At the end of the day, are you a fan of the team, only when they win? Are you only going to root for them, when they give you the tribal satisfaction of victory?

When we suck and the going rate is 10, the narrative suddenly is how can dhoni do it all alone?? Top order should have played better blah blah. If he can't crack it down the order ask him to play at 4 and steady the ship.

No I am fan who wants to see the team win and feel helpless when I see all this bs happening in front of me. Our selectors had the balls to drop Kapil in 1994, 2 years before the wc. Gavaskar retires on his own even though could have hung around till the next round of overseas tours. Dhoni is in neither category, hence the pain Laaloo and Mosher 2
gooner Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 I don't think any team, including Pakistan would have sucked like this. It was doable even when we were 4 down. All it needed was a bit of proactive and strategic batting. These morons have been here for more than 1 month. They exactly know how the pitch is after 20 overs. Just a bit of positive proactive batting from dhoni we would have cracked this. Any middle order barring Afghanistan would have taken the team home. diehardpacer, Laaloo, vivek04 and 3 others 6

The pitch had mellowed down after the initial overs. India are not good chasers now.
Stan AF Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Yeah. i'm not counting on sshhiitt to happen. I've seen this film before.

I reckon that Babar would have been good at chasing this type of mid-level scores. Not just Dhoni - we also saw spineless top and middle order batting for the most part. gooner 1
Sloane84 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 At last we know who the number 4 should really have been - Instead of losers such as Kartik, Shankar and Jadhav, the number 4 should have been Cheteshwar Pujara.

Dhoni is in neither category, hence the pain I had been pushing for Dhoni's ouster from ODIs since late 2017. So we are on the same page there. Its unfortunate that the team didn't invest in Pant as the long term answer right then and there. But lets be honest. Today's loss was more about 24/4 than Dhoni's usual tuk-tuk innings. Karthik and Rahul are way more guilty than greybeard. That's just the fact.

Sloane84 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 maniac, you know that India's batting order has been like a custard pudding with a crust (Rohit and Kohli) followed by very soft custard - Kartick, Shankar, Jadhav, then followed by a turtle Dhoni and a long tail. I suspect that had Pujara (or even Rahane) been in the team, India would be in the finals today.

He got it to a point of RR going over 15 rpo especially when the guy at the other end got more than a run a ball 50. He should have trusted his partner who is supposedly a bowling allrounder to give him back the strike instead of risking a 2 against one of the best fielders in the world. No sympathies. Brainless cricket and a selfish innings reflective of the 2nd half of his career. When pant and hardik were batting we required less than 6 runs per over. I wonder how this guy always manages to take it so impossibly high Kronadler 1

Never seen Pujara in a LOI game ever and Rahane is as much as a choker as the rest. agree on Jadhav,DK etc but we need to move forward not backward
