I wonder how can someone make such idiotic statement about Rahane, whose strike rate(50 over) these days is in 60s/70s.
vvvslaxman Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 I am not even sure if Rahane is an automatic pick for test let alone ODIs and T20s. beetle 1

Lone Wolf Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Lol & some people wanted him as coach. Ideally Mike Hesson will be good for us & he will get rid of some deadwoods. But knowing BCCI they will go for decent Tom Moody.

As it is, our team is very one-dimensional. They can just bat or bowl. Not both. We cannot look for batsmen who will do well only in certain conditions. That will be even more counter-productive. As an ODI batsman, batsmen have to be adaptable. There are zero excuses for top-order collapsing against the same NZ bowling attack 4 out of the last 4 encounters (including warm-up). 4 times in a row INdian top order imploded against NZ in such a short span of time. This is much deeper than picking the right team.

Rahane lol, that guy is always the supposed best player for difficult conditions. Rahane doesn't even deserve to be in the test team.
bowl_out Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Time has come for us to go more aggressive on format wise specialists. Except Kohli and Bumrah, nobody should play all three formats regularly. Maybe Pant, Gill and Shaw in future. I'd still like to try Kishan and Samson in limited overs to see how they fare.

The Realist Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 What is it with former players having their pet projects and always backing certain players for selection? Going back to Rahane who has done nothing of note in limited over cricket is delusional. Rahane, Rayudu, Pandey etc who can tell the difference anymore. Build for the future, it's not difficult.
Frustrated Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Dada has lost it completely . It probably started with his tussel with Greg. Never really recovered from that episode. (Both on and off the field). Neither as a player nor as an expert/commentator.
