I remember Wasim Akram speaking about him fondly and mentoring him in 97-98 tour. Had someone tol Shukla to concentrate on fast bowling, he could have been better. I think he was more of a batting AR IMO. and he was better suited for ODIs. maybe if he was handled well, he could have batted at 6 and bowled some overs. Rightarmfast 1
rtmohanlal Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 has been an absolute beast at home & against lower ranked teams. A bit off in SENA though. Assume, the arrival of Bumrah has helped Shami & Ishant a lot, which underlines the benefit of being in a strong bowling unit. On a side note , this exactly reveals as to how better Kapil dev as a bowler has been when compared to his plain average. Rightarmfast 1

Yup RP was deceptively quick , even nehra hit 149 in 2003 wc.....but such speeds werent regular for them . They hit them when they were in top rhythem RP was mostly around 135-142k Rightarmfast 1

Ind cricket has always been about hyping pace bowlers and ARs. LR shukla is a great example in the latter category as is irfan. both were called new kapil dev at some point of their life. Sreesanth was fast. He bowled 140 more regularly. Switchblade 1

Yes, Javagal "I can bowl at 150 kph bro" Srinath is hovering at 127-128 kph below, he's not the Rajdhani express people thought but more like Mangala mail train which stops at random villages. In fact, loss of pace was the reason he cited for his retirement. He did not prolong his career at a reduced pace. Ganguly on Srinath's retirement plans in 2002 ---- " Yes, he told me that he could not bowl at the pace he was used to and that he was not enjoying playing. But I told him that with age, every great fast bowler lost a few yards of their pace but they made up for it by concentrating more on variety " http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/story/117644.html Edited September 2, 2019 by express bowling Mosher, Vijy, Vilander and 1 other 4
