U can compare a body of work of 50 matches vs 100 ...rather see where both stood at 50 games clearly then u lack knowledge about the role of power hitter which is specialist batting at 7 doesnt make u bits n pieces.....what are u watching How do you measure or come up with a time frame of by when someone evolves? Just because player A broke out after 30 games doesn't mean that you give everyone 30 games to evolve. Pandya has been around for 3-4 years. Stokes has been around for 4-5 years. Stokes despite having that disastrous WT20 final with the ball was backed because he also had that 260 vs SA in SA against a world class bowling attack and a 100 vs Australia against a rampaging Johnson and co. All within 2-3 years of his debut. He also has 100's and 5 wicket hauls in the first 1-2 years of his debut as well. However you could see him get better every year in front of our eyes. Pandya despite being around for 3 years and being a regular in all 3 formats we are still talking about him evolving. Evolving as what? can we trust him to bat at 4-5? can he be our 2nd fast bowler say if we decide to play a 2 pace+2 spin combo on a pitch? what can we trust him with? Stokes can be banned from bowling for a year and still he will be the first name on the sheet. Same goes for Shakib. Guys like Cummins,Starc,Woakes are leagues ahead as allrounders than Pandya. The only guys I can think who are in Pandya's league are Imad Wasim, Grandhomme,Neesham,Russell, Brathwaite. Those are utility cricketers not allrounders

A player evolves with time n Opp Take rohit n yuvi example- took more then 5 yrs n 80+ games and more importantly a promotion in batting order No young player can perform like veteran Lets not forget stokes had his very shitty days Quote Stokes despite having that disastrous WT20 final with the ball was backed because he also had that 260 vs SA in SA against a world class bowling attack and a 100 vs Australia against a rampaging Johnson and co. Quote Pandya despite being around for 3 years and being a regular in all 3 formats we are still talking about him evolving. Evolving as what? can we trust him to bat at 4-5? can he be our 2nd fast bowler say if we decide to play a 2 pace+2 spin combo on a pitch? what can we trust him with? Fact check when pandya got promotion at no.4 he won MOS against Aus The reason he doesnt n cant get promotion becoz we dont have a lower order hitter like him if we decide tp play 2+2 he wud play as 3rd seamer.....and he has done that n done well We have been trusting him.....u dnt trust him that a diff question Quote Stokes can be banned from bowling for a year and still he will be the first name on the sheet. Same goes for Shakib. Again look at the number of games these guys have played If i show u shakib stats after 11 test na ull call him garbage cricketer Quote Guys like Cummins,Starc,Woakes are leagues ahead as allrounders than Pandya. Still cummins n starc are not played as all rounders ....when they can play with 5 bowler if they have 2 Starc has failed to keep his place as bowler only in test recently woakes will struggle in most condition to keep his place as bowler only Quote The only guys I can think who are in Pandya's league are Imad Wasim, Grandhomme,Neesham,Russell, Brathwaite. Those are utility cricketers not allrounders all these guys are permanents in their LOI side- specially neesham, russell Cummins, starc, woakes cant be considered as all rounder in LOI... Khota Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I hope he recovers quickly and works on one aspect of the game.

He scores only cameos because he is No.7 and his medicore average for a bowler is justified because he is a fifth bowler. Now that's the problem I have been harping on since the beginning. When someone can only bat at 7 and only be the 5th bowler that is the definition of bits and pieces. And keeps you guessing who will show up. he is the worst bowler and is a safety vent for the opposition. Edited October 2, 2019 by Khota
Straight Drive Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Guess this is his 3rd injury in last year and a half.

Frustrated Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) One of the most brittle all-rounders to hv played for india. Having him in the team is like going one step forward and two steps backwards. One can Never predict what's next. He broke down in the middle of a crucial Ind-Pak match in Asia cup 2018. And never came back for next 6 months. And then broke down (temporarily) during Ind-Nz SF WC match. All this despite being out of international cricket for half the year. No offence to him, but this is what happens when one has grown up by eating too much maggi in his childhood days. LOL. Edited October 2, 2019 by Frustrated
Straight Drive Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I doubt he will be able to play even 30 tests due to fitness issues. He made test debit in July 2017 and has played just 11 tests in 26 months. I think team India plays about 11 tests in average per year.
putrevus Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Hope he recovers soon, he is a must for T20 side.He needs to improve his batting more to become a batsman who bowls.Back Injury is always scary thing.
bowl_out Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 He is a great asset in ODIs and T20s. Should just focus on LoIs when he recovers and let Test cricket go.
Nikola Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Not good for test cricket. Should look to invest in specialist players instead till we get better all rounder. Suhaan 1
