They will bring Shankar in our t20 set up now, like for like replacement,Bots are programmed for this

That would actually be an upgrade. Yes Shankar is mediocre too but he is far more assured as a batsman. In fact he did play some good innings last time in Nzl in both LOI formats. Won a match vs Australia with that last over, took a wicket in the Pak match at a crucial time.

Maybe I am describing him like some kind of a legend lol , he is obviously mediocre and should be kept away but way way better than Dube.

Here is the difference between a talented player and a total mediocre hack.

If someone is supremely talented and has the skills there is still a chance that he will fail maybe due to bad luck or maybe a brain fart or they might get outplayed by a superior batsman/bowler. Talent can only get you to a certain level. Then it becomes about Mental strength and maybe some small amount of luck. You can spot a talent but cannot guarantee their success.

On the other hand you have someone like Dube. You can clearly tell he doesn’t belong at this level. Doesn’t have the skill for this level, He hasn’t put enough hard yards or paid his dues in domestics.

Giving opportunities to such players does no good to anyone. It obviously hurts other deserving players waiting in the wings,Hurts the team performance and at the same time kills confidence of the player himself.

I mean it is not like Dube can never improve his game. He has age on his side. He can get better but playing him this raw when he is not upto the standard might have killed his career .

Good luck to him and hope he comes back a better player.

Koi Thakur ka career bhi end kr do yaar.

Thakur is actually a decent pick for the allrounder's spot in T20, batting at 6. Most of the time he may not need to bat and if he does bat, he can do the same or better than Dubey. He has the clear edge over Dubey with bowling. 5 full time bowlers plus Thakur gives us plenty of bowling ammunition.

Thakur can slog a few but does he have the ability to play a knock like say even Pandey played in the 4th odi?

but yes If Thakur or for the matter of fact Chahar can deliver with the ball regularly and smack a few at 8-9 they will be more useful than a specialist allrounder

thakur is not a no.6. at best he is no.7, but is more suited for no.8. just because he has a couple of good 20s does not make him good enough for no.6

Well if he slogs a few he will be 15 runs in quick time. Thats exactly what you want from a number 7 on t20. Its exactly what we got in the 4th t20.

If he can also chip in with 2 overs say outside a slog overs then he is defo bringing balance to the team.

Thakur is like a pick up truck. Not glamorous but can do a specific job. If you enter him in the formula 1, its not going to work out.

If he is leaking 10 rpo every game than his 15-25 run cameos will be useless.

If he performs like he did in the 4th odi or even in Nidihaas where he outbowled the legendary Unadkut, Siraj and Jacques Shankar he can be a good utility player.

He needs to improve his bowling a lot though given the resources we have right now to become a regular.

Yeah, I was only thinking of him as capable of doing better than Dube but neither is the best choice for 6.

But ...as a team management....message is clearly put out that ... India needs allrounders....you want to be deserving...put the hard yards and get the spot...

Fast Bowling Allrounders are rare breed in Indian cricket thats why guy like Binny, Shankar, Dube got numerous chances only to realize they are not cut for International level.

Next in line: Harshal Patel

So glad, we have Hardik so we need not worry about them too much .

how the hell this guy made it to Indian team?? he is not even good enough for an ipl team let alone team india

yet people like in this thread like @Ankit_sharma03 were backing I don’t understand what they saw in him

even guys like vijay bhardwaj who won man of the series once was better all rounder

could possibly go down as worst ever indian all rounder

coz u need look for players for roles, if hardik is injured u need to look at next guy who can do that role rather making guys like jaddu n shankar do that role which they cant. So looking at option doesnt mean i rate him. IF he fails then next someone

If you followed Indian domestic cricket and India A matches, you would know why he was picked. For starters, look at his stats

FC : 1012 runs@48, 40 wickets@24

50 overs: 764 runs@40, SR of 123, 36 wkts@38

T20s: 714 runs@20, SR of 135, 32 wickets@29

A FC season with 600 runs@50+ avg, and 23 wickets@25, player of the series on India A tour of WI, couple of blazing knocks vs SA A and then the best hitter in VHT of 2019. He earned his place on merit.

But like many others, couldn't quite adapt to international cricket. Shankar and him, both shouldn't yet be totally discarded. Batting all rounders who can bowl 130 kmph are a rarity. Both of them are capable of doing so. And could still have a short 3-4 year long international career sometime in the future.

The only problem with players like Binny and Dube is that they don't have a strong suit.. Are they bowlers who can bat or batsmen who can bowl a few overs?

For Shankar, he is a technically sound ODI batsman who can bat at 5 and give you 5 overs.. He hasn't translated that to International performances as much as expected.

With Binny and Dube, what are they?

Dube has a better batting and bowling FC and List A stats than Shankar, albeit with a smaller sample. Conclude as you want to.
