Kohli at 3 has been our best batsman in last 3 wc

When he batted at 4 in last 1-2 yrs for raina n rahul he wasnt as effective. Kohli n rohit are two positions i feel shudnt be touched

It does not matter till world cup, Kohli can play at 4.Kohli can slot back at no3 at any time.

He needs to get smarter with his shot selection. Gets out behind the wicket at fine leg far too often.

When he is stable, I've seen him handle express pace comfortably. I remember him struggling in that world cup game against England. He was trying too much then but even in that game when he held his composure he seemed to have extra time when he pulled Mark Wood.

Also needs to add some more shots in front of the wicket. Hopefully he practices those as well.

He can be like Mushfiqur Rahim if he has issues with driving. Problem is there are times without moving his feet even on inch trying to play shot on the on side like a cute shot.  Even if he goes through a lean patch with bat he should still not drop his keeping standard. That is when the scrutiny doubles up.  HE is not that old. So he can always come back like DK, Parthiv both of which kept coming back.

Problem is some people are making MS Dhoni into someone who is so far superior ala Don Bradman of wicket keepers and act as if that guy never made any mistakes.

TM is also not helping his cause by putting him under undue pressure. The statement made by Rohit about Pant should have been made by Kohli long time back.

I don't think comparing him with Dhoni will help him anyway. Just look at him in isolation. Compare with other keepers who are trying to make it big. It won't be fair to them.  I agree he had a rough deal in the Tests. But in limited overs he has a special treatment. So it is upto him to grab the chances he gets. He played as a specialist bat in the world cup ahead of genuine batsman like Agarwal, Gill.

Persist. Back him for a couple of series and allow him the freedom to play his natural game. Pant should look at Shreyas Iyer to learn to play with clarity of thought and confidence.

his natural game is hitting everything on the leg side, this will not work in LOI cricket. His best and only format for success is Test cricket where there is no scoring pressure.

The problem is they are comparing him that includes fans and media.Any small mistake is being magnified and Pant is being humiliated on live TV. Compare this guy to the guy is Australian series where he knew job was his and he came across as a witty  and confident young man.

I put this on Kohli, this guy needs to step up and act as a captain and shield his players.

now that Bangladesh's full performance  range with their 2 main players absent has been known, if this TM has any intention of grooming Pant, they should give him a  chance in the 2nd test. The  test  lasted only  almost 2.75 days  with India batting only once with 4 wkts intact. Especially with the likes of Rohit dropping sitters & with Saha very mediocre with the bat there is no reason for making him sit out   by the claim that his drops would cost India the match.

South Africa is a dangerous opponent on paper, so it was okay to bring back Saha for that series. It doesn't make any sense to hold back Pant against the mediocre BD whom even Afghanistan has beaten recently. But at this time, it doesn't seem to matter even if he is in the X1 if he is being made to feel unwanted. At home with the specialists doing most of the scoring and lower order required to score fast, if he perishes trying for quick runs, he will be heavily criticized once again. There is no denying his recent struggles and poor shot selection but the chorus against him started growing louder well before his recent lean patch. Dhoni should do the honorable thing and announce retirement so that people stop bashing Pant for keeping the "legend" out of the team. The elephant in the room needs to be moved out.

Let alone coach the  oppertunist parasite( every person with a bit of sense can imagine his priorities) the  senseless captain too seems to have lots of attitude problems. If Pant is not played in the 2nd test, there is no other  reason to conclude otherwise.

Rishabh Pant released to play SMA trophy. Bharat called up as cover.

The Indian selection committee has decided to release Rishabh Pant from the Test squad in order to allow him to get some game-time ahead of India's limited overs series against West Indies next month, according to a report from PTI.

Pant will link up with the Delhi squad that is currently playing in the Super League of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20. He will thus be available for Delhi's next two Super League matches, against Haryana on November 24 and Rajasthan on November 27, and for the semi-finals and final if Delhi make it that far.

Meanwhile, the selectors have called up KS Bharat, the Andhra wicketkeeper, to join the Indian team as cover for Wriddhiman Saha for the remainder of the second Test in Kolkata. Andhra have not qualified for the Super League in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

"Rishabh will be playing all the six matches (3 T20Is and 3 ODIs) against the West Indies. The selectors thought it's only prudent that he goes and plays in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Delhi," Press Trust of India quoted a BCCI official as saying.
