Very good knock on comeback but looked to be struggling with his poor fitness. Needs more work on shedding some flab and go leaner.

shaw has done well since his comeback. played some breathtaking shots, but also some foolhardy ones. more worrying for me is that he seems to be getting chubbier and chubbier. needs to be sent to all gym/workout sessions that rat takes part in.

Had a classy start to Aus tour but got injured right before the first test. Hopefully he get his due. He was certain to play that series even before Mayank Agarwal.

With devdutt rahul Agarwal and shaw our batting stocks look good . Add a pandey and yashaswi and few more to come - we are gonna dominate cricket for a long time

Impossible to say, but I had a gut feeling he would have done well in Aus.  Like Warner, he handles the short fast stuff really well.  

 

Mayank has really seized his chance beautifully now.  And Rohit is well, Rohit.  Shaw becomes the reserve, and is going to have proper competition from KLPD as well.  I expect KLPD to put up a proper monster FC season this time around.

KLR has always been a beast in domestic; I think he has the best avg among domestic openers if only FCs are considered. there are too many openers in contention - not just mayank, rohit, shaw but also KLPD, gill and panchal, easwaran. even the likes of dhawan are lurking in the shadows. add to that the likes of the upcoming jaiswal, maybe padikkal, and you have a veritable cornucopia of openers.

 

if people wish to break into the test squad some yrs from now, at least some of these younger/unselected guys need to morph into no.3 batsmen.

i think Pujara and rahane have to be alert else most promising guys like Shaw  and gill are ready to take away there positions in tests
