I saw him in the ODI series in NZ where he looked like a deer caught in front of the headlights. Probably needs a plan to transition into international cricket. Needs to work on the mental aspects of adjusting to international cricket and expectations. Fielding can improve too .... In 2 ODIs so far, averages 8 with a SR of 50 Pant (current age 22): A WK AR. Has played some international games in all 3 formats. Looks at ease in international cricket as he has already hit test 100s in Eng and Aus as a WK batsman. Appears to be a rare talent who can shape into a good impact player in the mold of Jayasuriya, Gilchrist, Klusener, etc. (Don't expect every youngster to be some version of a Kohli or a Tendulkar. That would be like expecting every dish to taste the same. Much like cuisine, cricket needs different type of players) Comes to the crease as if he is already batting on 100 (again a refreshing change). Has only played 16 intermittent ODIs but many unrealistically expect him to perform like someone who has played 350 games. Instead of being given a consistent run, has been in and out of the squad. Needs to improve his keeping .... Averages 44 in 11 tests. Has a SR of 71. More importantly has hit test 100s in Eng and Aus Shaw (current age 20): Has been drafted in the test squad but appears to be a multi format player. Plays aggressive cricket too. Should be a regular prospect in tests at least but has suffered injuries. Needs to work on his fielding .... Averages 118 in 2 tests, which are scored at a SR of 94 These guys are at a stage where a consistent run in international cricket could help them shape into better cricketers. Have to see how India and fans (including fans of the "old" players whom these 3 replace) treat these talented youngsters. Within the next one to two years, ideally, you would want these players to be regulars in the Indian team. Though ideally they should already be in the scheme of things for T20s. If selectors had shown foresight, NZ T20s was a great opportunity to play youngsters. And there are 5 games so that allows them to settle down in the series as well express bowling and raki05 1 1

neel roy Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Looking from test match perspective only - It was Pujara Rohit Kohli Rahane back in 2008,2009..they are doing pretty well now..but for all theseplayers there were also players like Badrinath,Abhishek Nayyar, Manish Pandey (just check 2009 Ranji Final.Karnataka lost by 7 runs chasing 338..Pandey scored 144 of 151 balls),Manoj Tiwary,Suresh Raina who really didnt make it at the top..its not only your ability but also things like luck etc raki05 1

We’ve seen what a chewtiya Pandya has become after being one. id rather have a solid test batsman who can give support to Kohli for the next 3/4 years and then pick up where Brat left of.
