Very much possible if you see the history of this venue. Our batsmen will get the flattest batting conditions of their careers when they come to bat.
Adamant Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 If India gets newzealand below 280 there is a good chance of avoiding defeat or even winning.
ShoonyaSifar Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Since the 2014 test vs us, each test has produced a result at Basin Reserve, except for a rain curtailed Test vs SL in 2018 when almost an entire day's play was not possible. The trend is unlikely to change. There is enough help for bowlers on the pitch as Ishant showed
afan Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Williamsons innings has given them the edge for the Kiwis..with an expected lead of 100 plus its not going to be easy for India to pile up 400 in the second. India cannot afford to give wickets to the debutant Jamieson..definitely no business to give him 4 for 39, that is just not on! They will have to play him out if they cant score of him, tire out Southee and plunder the rest! All this provided, the kiwis dont bat beyond the first 20 overs tomorrow

Have to bowl out NZ quickly and then need to bat really well to have any chance. Big challenge is to wrap up the tail which has been the weakest area especially in overseas conditions. Yes you would think one of Pujara, Mayank or Kohli will need to deliver a big hundred to win it from this position. I can see NZ getting to 150 run lead. Meaning that India would need to score at least 400, to end up with a lead of 250 to win it from here. If NZ bat out the first session tomorrow, they will effectively IMO win the game. Pressure will be massive on India. Forget how easy it will be to bat on this pitch, India will choke. A 1st innings lead over 150+ will have a negative effect on the dressing room. Reckless shots by Mayank and Kohli hurt India's chances in this match coupled with the needless run out of Pant and then throw in the partnership of Williamson and Ross and thats where India lost the game. Consistently bowling outside off when turn isn't guaranteed is the surest way to bleed runs, not something we could afford with 165 on board. You sure were watching something in your fantasy land if you did not see so many deliveries turning whenever Ashwin flighted the ball. Wish they showed the data on average spin

zen Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Today, whose turn is it to be made into a hero .... how about Jamieson with the bat
putrevus Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Bumrah should show up tomorrow and clean up the tail. These two who are currently at the crease are very dangerous.
vvvslaxman Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Bumrah must step up. Went missing every key occasion in this series. super over, death overs, power play overs now the test match.

They are capable of reaching 500 from here They are not like Indians who would run themselves out at this point. adi B 1

Even a lead of 200 can be overcome in NZ, challenging but very much possible. I admire your optimism due to us being world #1 but our batting is plain bad in these conditions against swing bowlers. You are pitting hope against hope
adi B Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Bumrah should be sidelined from IPL for his own benefit . If he plays thefull IPL, i guarantee he'll again get injured, this time seriously!
vvvslaxman Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Gotta say Sandeep warrier would have been more effective than Bumrah here. Bumrah kept bowling short of a length. or too full. Hardly hit that nagging length. cowboysfan 1

No one gets rhythem while sitting on bench . If needed rest him from SA odi series . Everyone shud play IPL unless they are nursing an injury .
